The full-time research project manager (PM) will manage one project in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). This project is related to electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support and chronic disease management in primary care. EHRs are powerful tools for improving the safety and quality of healthcare. Our research group studies EHRs, with a particular focus on learning from our internal databases through data analytics and making EHR-based tools more useful and more usable. This particular project will involve designing and implementing a clinical decision support tool to improve the quality of care provided to patients with chronic kidney disease in the 15 primary care clinics across the BWH network.

Responsibilities include project management, including the development and documentation of project plans, timelines, and progress reports; data collection, tracking, and analysis; running staff meetings and programs; chart review process; tool and materials development; manuscripts preparation for submission to journals. The PM will support the communication of the accomplishments of the team and initiatives. The PM will be required to work closely with investigators and staff at BWH, Partners HealthCare System and the other participating institutions. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, writing skills, problem-solving skills, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to think creatively about improving healthcare delivery.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • · Work with investigators to successfully develop, implement and evaluate the tool described above
  • · Work directly with the Principal Investigator to oversee projects and help supervise research staff
  • · Collaborate with project co-investigators including those at other sites.
  • · Provide oversight and management for day-to-day operations of the project.
  • · Work with the data support team to develop necessary infrastructure, manage data, and support data updates.
  • · Utilize MS Access and Excel to assist in data collection efforts, database development, and descriptive data analysis.
  • · Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure that project goals are met on time and within budget.
  • · Coordinate project plans, manage project meetings and agendas.
  • · Coordinate meetings of the Data Safety Monitoring Board
  • · Provide project updates to project team and collaborators
  • · Manage related protocols for the Partners institutional review board.
  • · Oversee project database data management, data collection methods and data quality
  • · Participate in manuscript writing, including drafting text, editing existing text and collating input from multiple co-investigators
  • · Contribute to grant writing initiatives for future funding
  • · Write interim and/or annual progress reports to the funders
  • · Update clinicaltrials.gov entry
  • · Supervise research team members
  • · Prepare presentations and materials for distribution related to the project, including PowerPoint slides, tables, and graphs
  • · Other duties, as assigned by the PI or Project Director


Qualifications

  • · Significant experience with scientific writing, including participation in preparation of manuscripts for scientific journals or grant applications for the NIH
  • · BS/BA required. Master's Degree strongly preferred with concentration in biomedical informatics, public health, business, scientific writing and an interest in healthcare and information technology
  • · 5+ years of experience in healthcare research project management required including supervisory/project management experience and team coordination.
