Reporting to the Engineering Director for the Project, the CBTC PM will oversee the CBTC Contractor in the design, delivery, test and commissioning and certification of the CBTC system. The CBTC PM must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the financial and planning aspects of a CBTC project, including commercial and change management, risk management and program management. The CBTC PM will work with the procurement team, to manage the commercial aspects of the Contract, and will work with the program, engineering and Operations and Maintenance teams to manage the technical aspects of the Contract, including the specifications, while ensuring overall adherence to the Client’s specifications.

 

General Job Description:

 

  • To lead CBTC system design and delivery initiatives, primarily for Rail Transit, related to new systems, replacements or upgrades;
  • Support various Systems projects and proposals, for CBTC and related subsystems;
  • Develop engineering qualification and bid documentation to support bids for potential Consulting, Design and APD contracts;
  • Prepare engineering documentation, including plans, interface control documents, specifications, installation drawings, analyses and test plans and reports, to support various transit projects;
  • Support procurement in the development of supply contracts
  • Supervise, review or witness testing and troubleshooting;
  • Coordinate with the other project engineering and test team members to provide system engineering support;
  • Provide guidance to suppliers or other parties as required by the project to ensure scope is developed and delivered in a timely fashion;
  • Travel in support of projects or proposals on an as-required basis;
  • Develop and present technical papers on the subject, or specific aspects of Systems/Vehicle Engineering.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • University degree in Electronic Engineering or similar discipline, specializing in Communications;
  • Bilingual English/French a preference;
  • P.Eng, with 15+ years of CBTC systems experience, either in the Contractor’s role, the overall System integration role, or a combination;
  • Can lead a formalized Systems Engineering approach to the project delivery;
  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding of:
    • Working in a multi-disciplined Systems environment, of which CBTC is only one part;
    • The overall CBTC architecture and subsystems, including the interfaces to and integration with the external systems (e.g. rolling stock, platform screen doors, communications and other infrastructure);
    • The principles of the IEEE 1474 standards for CBTC;
    • The principles of ISO EN 50126, 50128 and 50129 as they relate to Systems Assurance, System Safety and Security for a CBTC system;
    • The program delivery phases and risks related to the integration of a CBTC system within an overall Transit System.
  • The CBTC PM must be able to work in a collaborative, One-Team environment with the Contractor and all other parties., and must have:
    • Strong analytical skills;
    • Effective written presentation and communication skills and the ability to guide others in the preparation of required analyses or reports;
    • Experience in communication with clients at various levels of seniority
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office and especially Word, Visio and Excel
