Project Manager

Position Summary

The Project Manager reports to the Program Manager.

The Project Manager will lead Project teams in the management and successful delivery of assigned Projects/customer relationships and be the Catalent Advocate and the Customer Advocate. The Project Manager will maintain strong relationships with business development partners.

Catalent in Somerset, NJ is home to oral solid dose manufacturing operations as part of the Advanced Delivery Technology (ADT) business unit. On site we have our state-of-the-art laboratory, clinical, and commercial manufacturing plant for oral dose forms in addition to being the Catalent Center of Excellence for handling Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

The Role


  • Under own direction for assigned projects coordinate projects from award stage to completion ensuring correct planning timelines are generated, monitored and tracked to ensure successful adherence and completion
  • Managing projects from Pre-formulation through Phase 3
  • Coordinate customer meetings/teleconferences/customer visits to support own assigned projects and understand full scope requirements to generate all required project documentation such as agendas/meeting minutes/timelines
  • Accurately Forecast program revenue and ensure Purchase order receipt (as needed) for each program assigned and invoice approvals throughout the month to meet site forecasting process
  • Collect KPI data for key milestones and customer temperature/health
  • Will mentor newly hired project managers and project coordinators (as requested)

The Candidate


  • Educated to a high level, typically Bachelor degree/Masters degree level (or equivalent) in Chemistry/Pharmacy/Engineering or relevant discipline
  • 5 to 7 years relevant experience to include Project Management, business development, operations, customer service and/or pharmaceutical development experience handling customer projects preferred
  • Professional Project Management Qualification preferred
  • Familiarity with the Drug Development Process as appropriate
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma Principles/Operational Excellence
