Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a high performing, top-quality, experienced Project Engineer with a background in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering to support an expanding portfolio of projects in our Portland, ME office.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading or supporting multi-disciplinary engineering design teams for environmental, infrastructure, radiological, and industrial projects.
  • Overseeing the development of contract/design drawings, project specifications and bid documents.
  • Data compilation and analysis.
  • Task planning and coordination.
  • Developing and reviewing environmental permitting and compliance documentation.
  • Technical writing; work plans and reports.
  • Teaming with professionals from other disciplines to develop and implement multi-discipline solutions.
  • Ability to develop project management and business development skills.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience with site civil design using computer-based modeling applications (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, etc.).
  • Proficiency with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and design using computer-based modeling applications (i.e., HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with mid-level engineering product review.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience communicating with regulatory agencies, clients, contractors, etc.
  • Advanced technical writing skills and experience preparing technical design-related engineering documents.
  • Ability to recruit, mentor, and supervise entry-level staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 6 - 10 years of experience

Required Driving Statement

This position requires a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
