Position Description

Operations focused role focused on managing & supervising at a project level, all the engineering and administrative policies, procedures and functions for Airport Special Systems. Must be willing to travel - position will require management and support of multiple projects in multiple cities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the pre-construction and construction services for Airport Special Systems including low voltage.

  • Manage and lead the negotiation and procurement process for all of the special systems work and its coordination with the balance of the project

  • Oversee and have input of design development of the special systems identified in preconstruction and early phase design

  • Develop comprehensive and detailed written scopes of work for issuance to the trade contract market for pricing

  • Review and evaluate Special Systems designs and interface with designers and subcontractors to ensure quality and conformance of the installation to user requirements

  • Evaluate and monitor Subcontractor work plans and schedules to meet key project milestones

  • Manage and lead the execution and installation of the special systems work and its coordination with the balance of the project

  • Communicate and interface closely with the client to develop positive relationships and cooperation

  • Manage special systems testing process and interface closely with TSA and federal vendors and consultants

  • Coordinate and communicate with other Turner staff to foster an efficient and orderly construction process

  • Conduct thorough construction reviews with the Airport Special Systems subcontractors

  • Prepare a contract items list, develop trade requisitions for bid packages, major material/equipment purchases and assist in the purchasing process

  • Implement mock-ups and associated testing, review and approval of the Airport Special Systems

  • Process, evaluate, monitor, and control changes to the work for the Airport Special Systems

  • Implement engineering management/document control systems for the Airport Special Systems

  • Schedule, conduct and document all job meetings, owner-architect and coordination meetings relating to the Airport Special Systems

  • Prepare and / or oversee project status and financial reports of the Airport Special Systems work for the MEPF Manager

  • Prepare subcontract change orders for issuance for the Airport Special Systems work

  • Manage project close out, including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, sub contract and vendor close, final payment and records retention

  • Maintain EEO compliances

  • Manage, coach and develop assigned staff

  • Manage, maintain and oversee all funding compliance

  • Collaborate and manage with Systems Integrator on Special Systems, lighting controls, FMCS, BHS, vertical transportation, and BAS

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications: Four-year college degree and/or at least ten (10) years of direct Project Management experience in Airport Special Systems with at least five (5) years focused on managing the design, integration and installation of most or all of the following special systems for aviation and airports: structured cabling, outside plant cabling, IT spaces, LAN, WLAN, SAN, VoIP, DAS (cellular/1st responder), BHS, FMCS, common use, CUTE, EVIDS, GIDs, RIDs, FIDs, self-boarding gates, rapid recharging, RSMS, paging, Fire Alarm, CCTV, ACS, Breach Management, PIDS and radio systems, design and installation and 5+ years of experience as Special Systems Manager with a primary focus on airports and special systems associated airport and aviation work.
