Job description

Imperial is seeking Project Execution Engineers to provide project management leadership to a team of construction supervisors and contractors at fuel distribution and/or pipeline facilities within our Canada Fuels Operations (CFO), Engineering, Maintenance and Projects (EMP) group.


As a Project Execution Engineer you will be fully accountable to flawlessly deliver all aspects of safety, cost, schedule and quality on assigned projects in accordance with the ExxonMobil Capital Project System (EMCAPS) from receipt of design specifications through to equipment turn-over, commissioning and start-up.

 

Scope of responsibility

  • This role takes direction from the Project Management Execution Team Lead
  • Key stakeholder interfaces include: CFO Operations, Security, Safety Health & Environment (SSHE), Supply, Refining & Supply, EMP Project and Field Engineers
  • Supervise detailed engineering consultants, construction contractors and technical personnel

 

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage all on-site contractor activities and monitor performance of safety, schedule, cost and quality assurance, craft labor, technical specialists, vendors, and field construction supervisors
  • Engage and work with engineering specialists on various aspects of project management, including development of classified cost estimates, resource loaded work schedules, internal project reviews and technical specifications
  • Support project development Front End Engineering Design (FEED) engineers in the preparation of management reviews, including project execution and safety plans, cost and schedule estimates
  • Transition design specs into detailed engineering, procurement plans and tender packages
  • Provide oversight to detailed engineering consultants, including the approval of fit-for-purpose construction drawings, 3D CAD models, technical m-specs and field construction work scopes
  • Work with Procurement to requisition owner supplied materials and craft labor services using approved contracting strategies
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior Project Engineers
  • Ensure that all personal development and training requirements are kept up-to-date

Qualifications

Academic: 

  • BSc or Bachelors degree in engineering

 

Other:

  • Minimum 5 years of practical field construction oversight experience, including direct interaction with contractors and safety rep's
  • Experience in fuel distribution or refineries is an asset
  • Proficiency in storage tank construction, cleaning, inspection and maintenance would be an asset
  • Multi-disciplined technical skills to oversee a broad range of construction trade activities – practical construction experience with petroleum terminals and/or pipelines is preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Canada during the field execution activities
  • Strong safety mindset that embraces a strong Behaviour Based Safety culture – applicant must have practical experience with BBS/LPS program
  • Robust leadership skills to manage teams and proactively address issues to timely resolution
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong communication, coaching and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, project controls, project management, organizational, and decision making skills – past experience with EMCAPS is preferred
  • Proven ability to provide work direction to and obtain desired results from Contractors
  • Strong computer skills, including: Microsoft Project, SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook
  • Professional Project Management certification would be an asset
  • Proficiency in the French language would be an asset
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
