ABOUT THE ROLE:Act as the primary source of technical expertise for projects. Ensure that product application/solution is functioning according to specifications. Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products. Assist sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions.
AS A KEY MEMBER OF THE TEAM, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO:• Manage both pre-sale and post-sale technical support activities including, but not limited to, assessment of client needs, preparation of product specifications for development and installation.
• For all projects, create custom system design base on customer requirements and manage all technical aspects of the project through completion.
• Serve as liaison between the project management office, development engineering and manufacturing operations and the customer's technical staff.
• For an external contract, write the system requirements specification (SRS) for the project.
• Attend bid review meetings if required and assist in the development of annual budget if requested.
• Familiar with the contents of agreements and contracts that pertain to the project under management.
• Participate in the design review process as required.
• Provide system level trouble shooting and technical skills with the highest level of problem solving.
• Ensure accurate and timely system testing and recording of faults as required by the project.
• Ensure accurate and timely production of engineering design documentation including, but not limited to, as-built system documentation, customer needs assessment, requirements trace matrix, acceptance test procedures, bills of materials, installation and commissioning documents, and detailed upgrade procedures.
• Accurately maintain project and QA records including, but not limited to, fault records, test result sheets, configured records, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical expertise to the project manager and able to converse with the customer, system sales, the development engineering function and manufacturing to ensure the customer's expectations and technical requirements are met.
• Provide detailed task list, labor hour estimates and progress reports, both orally and in writing to the Project Manager
• For some projects, serve as Project Engineer/Project Manager providing progress reporting regularly as defined by PMO.
• Assign project tasks to other team members and serve as mentor when required. Manage task through successful completion.
• Required to perform the job functions in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties as required and directed by the Company.

WHAT MAKES A SUCCESFUL PROJECT ENGINEER?• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: radio integration systems, telephony systems, IP data networking; skill managing Windows and/or Linux operating systems is a plus.
• Preferred to have skills with critical communication systems; including land mobile radio, dispatch, telephony, IP network protocols, and call taking systems for public safety first responders and similar applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey information clearly and accurately.
• Active listening skills with ability to use judgment in order to solve problems, and facilitate issues.
• Ability to relate to, influence and work with all levels of team members effectively under pressure and time deadlines.
• Strong knowledge in computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Project.
• Must possess and maintain valid work state's Driver's License; driving records must be maintained in good standing.
• Must be able to drive as part of performing job duties.
• Must be willing and able to pass background check as required, as entry to a customer site may be contingent, by contract, upon the employee passing an ongoing background screen.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The following list of requirements are considered the minimum levels of education and experience necessary to perform this job successfully. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job is acceptable.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or in related field or any combination of education and experience that provides same expertise.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience similar kind of tasks deploying radio, telecommunications, IP networks or large-scale communications systems, supervisory experience is a plus.
• Experience of managing project through completion, including but not limited to managing all pre-sale and post-sale technical support activities and all technical aspects of the project.
• FCC GMR and/or HAM radio licenses preferred.
• IP data networking fundamentals preferred
• Any combination of education and experience that provides same expertise will be considered.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future. The typical base salary hiring range for this position is USD $90,000 to $120,000 per year.
