Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Planning, design and construction engineering of water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure and site-development projects for municipal and private clients.
  • Provide design and construction administration leadership of our team on all pipeline assessment, repair, rehabilitation, or replacement construction. A large part of the effort will include report writing, cost estimating, CIP planning, construction documents development, and construction oversight.
  • Develop master plans, technical reports, design drawings, contract documents, cost estimates and prepare project permits.
  • Meet and assist in the management of established budgets and delivery schedules for each project scope, schedule and budget.
  • Assisting project managers, leading production staff designs projects and technical staff for contract administration of projects under construction.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineering, technical, CAD and administrative staff in their performance of tasks on projects.
  • Build client relationships, winning work, staffing projects and staff development.
  • Understand client needs, project scope and Consultancy and Sub-consultancy Agreements
  • Develop client design projects (pipeline rehabilitation or replacement) from inception (Project Description) to completion (final design and construction completion).
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis, and use design software to solve complex challenges.
  • Able to work on multi-disciplinary projects and assisting in coordinating these efforts.
  • Work with Service Group Managers, Service LineCoordinators, Business Stream Coordinators, and others to help secure projects.
  • Assist with project delivery strategy and job plan, QA plan, proposal development, securing resources, establishing work briefs and budgets.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Master's degree a plus.
  • Client relationship skills are required. •Minimum of 8 years of experience in water / wastewater / utility / infrastructure design.
  • 10+ years of experience preferred in the inspection, investigation, assessment, design, rehabilitation and replacement of water and reclaimed water distribution and wastewater collection systems piping, up to 60-inch in diameter
  • Registered Professional Engineers License (State of NC a plus). •Prior water and wastewater design experience with local municipalities (i.e. City of Charlotte, Charlotte Water, CLT Airport, City of Concord, Union County, etc.)
  • Knowledge of NCDOT methods and procedures a plus
  • Excellent technical engineering skills in the large diameter pipeline condition assessment, design, rehabilitation and replacement technical practice areas, including open cut and trenchless technologies. Experience with computer aided drafting (CAD), Civil 3D, GIS, water and sewer hydraulic modeling, storm water management, and state and local permitting a plus.
