Project Engineer - Machinery Automation Upgrading and Retrofits

Seeking automation engineer with experience working on industrial production machinery and components including programming consoles, programmable controllers, drives, motors, power distribution, instrument panels and dashboards, wiring, etc. who loves to work with his or her hands and thoroughly knows programmable machine control systems.
Support system analysis and review, design, fabrication, installation, and programming machine controls for both retrofits and new installations.
50% of the projects require incumbent to be the face of the company during pre-planning, worksite inspections and commissioning. Shall require travel.
*** Visit customer plants to inspect, analyze, and document current equipment, capacities, infrastructure, facility layout, power distribution systems, etc.
*** Liaise and act as the extension of the home office engineering team at customer site.
*** Present analysis, recommendations, and alternatives based on information gathered at worksite.
*** Specify, design, model, lay out, and place equipment components including gears, power supplies, motors, drives, controls, wiring, etc. using advanced CAD software packages.
*** Oversee and support fabrication, installation, set up, testing, and customer training of machine control systems incorporating PLCs, motors, drives, power distribution and conditioning, etc.
*** Train customers on equipment operation, processes, and maintenance.
***Bachelors Engineering or equivalent technical degree. Must have practical hands-on experienceworking with machine controls, AC and DC drives, servo motor systems, power distribution, wiring, etc. for machinery.
*** Experience programming, troubleshooting, debugging, and improving PLC code.
*** Ability to translate abstract ideas into technically sound and actionable items.
