Lockheed Martin’s Federal Energy Solutions seeks an engineer to provide energy modeling and building energy use studies in developing Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Create energy simulations utilizing approved simulation programs such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, eQuest (DOE-2.2), Visual DOE (DOE-2.1E), EnergyPlus and/or EnergyPro.
•Utilize Excel to perform energy analysis on Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs), evaluate the operation of existing building systems, compare utility rates and evaluate existing utility consumption.
•Review and understand energy utility rates in order to accurately assign costs to energy consumption to correctly determine the energy costs of various design alternatives. Be able to compare energy tariffs and rate structures to determine the most cost effective utilities.
•For existing buildings perform energy audits and energy assessments of energy consuming systems to evaluate system designs and identify energy efficiency upgrades.
•Evaluate the energy efficiency of building systems to determine the most cost effective way to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. Provide performance specifications to the project team for all energy consuming systems.
•Support ESPC business development proposals and project development efforts including proposal writing, and Preliminary Assessment and Investment Grade Audit development.
B..S., in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
•Five years or more experience in ESPC or energy efficiency and/or HVAC industries (design and analysis).
•Ability to read and understand architectural and MEP drawings and specifications
•Experience with computer modeling of building energy performance using Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, eQuest (DOE-2.2), Visual DOE (DOE-2.1E), EnergyPlus and/or EnergyPro. Trane Trace is our preferred simulation program.
•Ability to analyze and diagnose problems identified during energy audits and troubleshooting of energy consuming systems in buildings including lighting, HVAC and lighting controls, and HVAC systems central CHW and HW plants and built up air handlers
•Ability to analyze multiple industrial systems to determine baseline energy use compared to energy saving measures and/or experience analyzing field data and energy consumption information.
•Thorough understanding of utility rates and billing tariffs
•Experience with installation and commissioning of building HVAC systems, automation systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC)
•Good working knowledge of HVAC systems and components (old and new)
•Experience with engineering calculations for chillers, boilers, fans, pumps, motors, controls, compressors, and lighting systems to determine energy savings compared to baseline equipment and or building codes.
•Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
•Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for several hours per day.
•Ability to visit job construction areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipe work and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to heavy equipment and building systems.
