S/he will oversee assigned engineering activities of the project teams to achieve successful market introduction according to the New Product Development Process, as measured against the Design Book targets.
S/he will develop components and systems solutions that achieve target functionality and performance. S/he will coordinate development testing and failure analysis and work with the suppliers to ensure purchased component cost efficiency and performance.
S/he will support manufacturing on fabrication and assembly issues, and cooperate with marketing to ensure product output satisfies customer needs.
S/he will design, develop, schedule, document, and release product and material specifications for new and existing products.
S/he will construct and communicate engineering changes, bills of material, and specifications to Engineering Information Services.
S/he will develop patentable solutions to practical user based on marketing anticipated needs and trends.
S/he will participate in team meetings and activities, and support project activities, provide guidance and expertise to Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Distribution to ensure all objectives are met.
S/he will proactively anticipate and seek out innovation, quality improvement, and cost reduction opportunities for new and existing products.
S/he will stay abreast of industry trends and implement new technologies in order to improve cost and performance.
S/he will design and develop portable electric power tools in accordance with internal Robert Bosch performance, quality and safety requirements and as per Robert Bosch Power Tools product development process.
10%-15% domestic and international travel required.
REQS: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related field, plus and 5 years of work experience in the design and introduction of new products into production.
Additionally, applicant must have professional experience with: (1) 3 years applying PRO/Engineer3D Modeling and Advanced Surface Modeling to create and modify industrial and mechanical designs and components; (2) 3 years using Microsoft Project for product development and project scheduling; (3) 5 years using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for the design of assemblies and selection of manufacturing processes; (4) 5 years creation of engineering drawings and bill of materials to work with external suppliers and finalize the product design; (5) 5 years designing die castings, sintered parts, machining, Metal Injection Molding, Vacuum Injection Modeling, and plastic injection molding; (6) 5 years using rapid prototyping and 3D printing to evaluate design performance; (7) 5 years designing mechanical products powered with Universal, DC, and brushless DC motors; and (8) 3 years using finite element analysis to create and analyze structural models.
