Our Toronto office is seeking to add a Project Controls/Cost Engineering Specialist our team and partner with the Business Center Managing Leader and Financial Manager.
Your Key Responsibilities
Directly support the operational management of the Buildings group in preparation of the annual business plan, quarterly forecasts, monthly project reviews and resulting financial analysis regarding Provisions, AFDA, AR, WIP, GM and write downs.
Provide Business Center Roll-Up Financial Reports. Create reports based on operational need & identify methods of project delivery improvement. Such reports may include, but not be limited to, weekly or monthly utilization, employee time charging, purchase order/contract status, actual vs. budget spend, unrecognized revenue, billing, backlog, contract value, revenue, etc.
Support Studio Directors and Project Managers in designated project reviews.
Develop, monitor, track, analyze, forecast, and report on select program and project budgets, estimates to complete, expenditures, project progress and productivity, work plans and schedules, projects cost at completion, task cost coding, subcontracts, and change management.
Assure Earned Value Analysis (EVA) is performed as required.
Provide support for proposals/project pricing and analyze data and report at organizational level.
Perform risk analysis on cost and schedule and recommend usage of contingency.
Assure change management systems and processes are implemented and followed. Assist Project Managers, as necessary, to approach clients regarding fee amendments for additional services.
Identify potential problems early, work with project teams to address and implement recovery plans.
Manage, train and assign project coordinators to projects if needed.
Work closely with operations personnel, accounting, contracts management, and legal.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficient computer skills using MS Office tools (in particular, MS Excel) and the most current project management software programs.
Must have strong verbal and written communications skills and a desire to understand and analyze the details of projects.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Cost Management, Engineering, Architecture, Accounting or Finance preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience of related experience in the controls analysis of vertical design and construction projects desired.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
