POSITION SUMMARY:The Programmer Analystis responsiblefor maintaining and enhancing custom built applications that support all areas of RSR business processes. Responsibilities may also include application development in support of supply chain EDI transaction processing via VAN. This position works with thebusiness units to define userrequirements and employs the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes of analysis, designing, coding,testing and implementation to ensure quality products are delivered.REGULAR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Consults with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, featuresand input and output requirements.Analyzes, definesand documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.Writes and maintains technical specifications.Analyzes and estimates feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.Develops and maintains plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs.Researches and evaluates software and hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms.Designs and codes screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs and interfaces with other systems.Compiles code into programs and corrects errors detected in compile process.Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications.Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revises programs.Consults with client to prototype, refine, test and debug programs to meet needs.Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changesand corrections.Writes documentation or reviews documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures.Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problemsor questions about programs.Trains end users and/or technical support staffto use programs.

2Installs programs and performs final testing on production server.Monitors performance of programs after implementation.Desired knowledge: EDI mapped transaction sets 753, 754, 810, 846, 850, 856, 860, 865.EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:NoneQUALIFICATIONS:This position requires an undergraduate degree in a related field and three years’ related experience and/or training using COBOL and Linux. Substantial experience and knowledge in ITcan replace the educational requirement.This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.The Programmer Analyst must be able to manage multiple priorities and have strong organization and analytical skills.Proficiency in COBOL and Linuxis required as well as knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.Additionally, the ability to work independently is required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
