Manages major, highly-complex project or combination of projects through the product development phase.
Interacts with regulatory authorities during the production development phase.
Oversees the successful completion of project tasks on time and within budget for the product development phase.
Goal Setting: Anticipates future directions in customer needs and scientific advances; evaluates multiple scenarios; recommends or selects one or more scenarios that best aligns with ADD's business strategy.
Translates and leads the team through the translation of management and customer needs into project goals.
Implements process improvements as appropriate.
Planning and Implementation: Identifies resource requirements, cost and time schedules via division funding process.
Develops implementation plans, conducts risk assessments, and develops and implements contingency plans to allow for and accommodate unforeseen events and changes in strategy.
Establishes metrics for project success in addition to the division's Design Control Quality System (DCQS).
Implements project plans to meet project goals; considers technical, resource and regulatory requirements of the product development phase.
Funding: Identifies project funding needs and drafts funding requests; works to secure required resources.
Change Management: Manages change.
Evaluates the impact of project changes and adjusts implementation activities to meet revised plans.
Clearly communicates any changes and the impact to original plan to the cross-functional team and senior management in a timely fashion.
Achieves project goals by adhering to protocols; shares lessons learned to influence decisions to improve standards.
Risk Management: Evaluates risk/reward trade-offs.
Provides risk assessment (both safety and project related) and communicates critical issues impacting product quality to management (Q01 and Q04.01.004).
Establishes and maintains risk analysis as part of overall responsibility.
Economic Profitability: Be able to provide direction to project team to meet economic profitability (EP) profile for the project (product cost analysis).
Across multiple functions within the division and OEM relationships.
Accountable for the successful completion of project tasks on time and within budget during all phases of product development.
Also accountable for managing resources (direct and matrix) assigned to project regarding project tasks.
Includes mentoring and providing feedback to team members.
Bachelor degree or equivalent accredited technical training; 7 years’ relevant experience. Extensive experience with project management and general business principles required. Demonstrated prior success managing projects. Successful track record or leading research and/or product development projects. Prior people management experience preferable.
