The Engineering Program Manager is responsible for providing program direction and leadership to technical teams and cross-organizational matrixed teams during new product development projects as well as directly contributing in a senior technical advisor capacity.
Primary Job Functions:
Develop 3D Printing and additive manufacturing systems, taking full responsibility for the entire platform from “cradle to grave”.
Provide matrixed leadership of the cross-functional contributions from all company departments to ensure successful completion of program deliverables.
Deliver program goals while conforming to the requirements of the structured Product Lifecycle (PLC) phased gate process.
Define and report program roadmap, status, development issues, and success metrics.
Develop product requirements and technical specifications with product management and translate into a detailed design specification in cooperation with the development team.
Determine the project resource requirements, schedules, capital expenditure and other requirements necessary to deliver program.
Perform risk analysis and develop alternate plans and/or risk mitigation measures.
Present the program development plan to the company management and obtain any required approvals.
Make significant technical decisions while managing cross functional engineering teams and programs.
Lead problem solving teams, as needed, to address technical issues that arise during program execution.
Lead diverse special projects to answer specific technical or business issues by pulling information from diverse resources across the company.
Responsible for the transition to sustaining engineering of new products.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; M.Sc. in Engineering and/or Engineering Management is preferred
At least 5 years’ experience in program management of technology products is required
Direct experience in managing engineering teams is desired
5 years experience direct contribution as a Sr. Mechanical or Systems Engineer
Past experience in managing projects in the areas of 2D or 3D printing products is a plus
Must have a proven track record as a direct contributor to complex new product development projects
