Empowering Nurses with Technology: Program Director Nursing Informatics
The Program Director Nursing Informatics works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, with all departments in the Information Systems division, and all other departments or groups, campus-wide, as necessary, in problem-solving issues related to clinical information systems. Collaborates in planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to clinical information systems.
Participates in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the automated Clinical Information System (CIS). Collaborates with the Information Systems department in evaluation of changes and in processing user feedback and requests.
Participates in the process of revising and implementing changes in both the automated and manual components of the CIS. Responds appropriately to requests and concerns from users or others affected by the system.
Maintains a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current CIS, its functions and its relationship to other information systems within the enterprise.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of: current trends and issues in healthcare, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, national and state-wide standards and regulations, enterprise policies and procedures, and the legal implications of the CIS as related to clinical practice.
Leads projects as assigned by the Director of Nursing Informatics. Develops and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Tracks status of work plans, resources and deliverables for individual projects and as appropriate. Rolls up project information for overall program coordination, reporting and communication.
Collaborates with Nursing and IT Teams to facilitate implementation of clinical applications within established timelines. These activities may include gathering information, documentation of the process, etc. Maintains an up-to-date understanding of the process involved in these activities.
Provides proactive user support of the CIS including, but not limited to, training and education. Assists in evaluation and development of training and in-service programs as related to Informatics activities effecting Nursing.
Master’s degree in related field if BSN or MSN
NYS RN license
Certification as Nurse Executive
Minimum 3yrs experience in Nursing with focus on Clinical Information systems
