Boston College seeks a full-time Program Director to administer one of its newest initiatives, a college-in-prison program at Massachusetts Correctional Institute-Shirley. Launched in collaboration with the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI), it will exemplify the academic rigor, character, and mission of Boston College, enrolling incarcerated students in a full-time bachelor's degree program.
The Program Director will be based at Boston College and will be responsible for building and cultivating a college community, fostering shared ambition, and inspiring intellectual curiosity among students and faculty at MCI-Shirley. Reporting to the Boston College Academic Affairs office, the Program Director will lead faculty recruitment and support, participate in curricular development, act as an academic advisor, coordinate additional advising and tutoring, maintain student and college academic records, and contribute to fundraising efforts. As the primary representative of Boston College within the prison, the Program Director will liaise with staff there to ensure smooth operations of the academic work of the college. This position will also include an affiliation with BPI, who will provide professional training, technical assistance, and community through the national Consortium for the Liberal Arts in Prison.
