Upper Iowa University is seeking adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching to teach a variety of Master’s of Public Administration courses for our online program. Adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching subject matter material that meets prescribed student learning objectives, including but not limited to helping students with course questions and understanding. All adjunct positions are per session appointments.
Essential Duties SummaryResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teaching graduate students in assigned course(s);
Abiding by and upholding the University’s mission, policies, and core values;
Developing and implementing course syllabi according to Arts & Sciences policies and procedures, and Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation standards;
Planning and creating course materials such as lectures, discussions, and assignments;
Assigning grades for students based on such criteria as participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations;
Collaborating with colleagues on course design, content, and curriculum;
Meeting all scheduled class periods;
Being available to students for individual consultation;
Teaching students to be successful in their courses of study;
Staying current within the field of study;
Communicating with students, faculty, and staff using Upper Iowa University email;
Submitting final grades by the specified due date.
Required QualificationsPh.D. in public administration or a directly related field of study;
Strong commitment to the mission, vision and strategic goals of Upper Iowa University;
Committed to excellence in teaching.
Preferred QualificationsOne or more years of university level teaching experience plus prior professional work experience in a public administration subfield directly related to the course(s) taught that includes management and supervisory experience.

Occasionally requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying and climbing, reaching both high and low. Frequently requires walking and balancing. Constantly requires sitting, repetitious finger and wrist movement, speaking clearly, hearing conversations, hearing (with acuity), seeing near and far with depth perception and color vision.
