Professional Civil Engineer

DEA’s Institutional Land Development Segment is currently hiring for a Professional Civil Engineer in our Ontario, CA office.  The Professional Civil Engineer’s role is to carry out individual tasks delegated to them by the Project Manager. This is a hands-on technical career-track position. The Professional Civil Engineer plans, leads, and conducts work requiring the application of engineering judgment to  the  evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.  Successful candidates shall possess expertise in land development design, grading, drainage, water quality, streets, sewers, and associated utilities.


Position Duties:

  • Apply civil engineering principles to assigned projects, either as a team leader or functioning independently.
  • Plan and lead the production of design documentation on a wide variety of projects including horizontal and vertical control, site layout, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities
  • Lead the preparation of water quality reports and drainage studies inlcuding the associated hydraulic and hydrologic calculations
  • Perform calculations, specifications, and permitting applications
  • Schedule projects (understanding, creating, modifying, identifying the critical path), prepare and review cost estimates, and client coordination
  • Execute complex assignments utilizing judgment in evaluation, selection, and application  of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Ability to develop new approaches to problems encountered
  • Interface with clients and public agencies
  • Proposal preparation
  • Ability to supervise project staff  and mentor junior staff


Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant design experience related to the development  of institutional, public works, commercial, residential, and/or industrial projects
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCADCivil 3D, Hydrologic and Hydraulic programs, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project
  • LEED AP Certification
  • QSD Certification
