Your challenge!

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for the administration and operations of the plant. The Plant Manager will have a diverse work load supporting and assisting with health and safety, quality control, lean management & continuous improvement, and various Cascades management objectives.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Identify gaps prohibiting the Production team from reaching Cascades objectives and continue to advance, despite challenges and obstacles, support the growth of Cascades and the Production department, motivate and develop the employees
  • Manage and facilitate the process of change, while helping others to adapt to its effects.
  • Assess the scope, urgency, and level of riskassociated with a situation. This includes the ability to take measures, in a timely manner, and to solve problems involving various levels of complexity and ambiguity.
  • Engage, empower, and support the production team in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Face adversity, take risks, step of their comfort zone while making decisions that may be unpopular but essential to the sound operation of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee productions teams and lead daily production meetings.
  • Communicate customer and production requirements to Team Leaders and production crew.
  • Review production schedules to identify any concerns that need to be addressed and allocate the proper resources to achieve goals.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure production levels are in line to meet Plant targets and customer needs are fulfilled.
  • Ensure quality objectives are being met and production teams are following the ISO program.
  • Assist with quality complaint investigations (including internal and external), communicate quality issues to upper management, and help with corrective actions.
  • Ensure all SAP and MES reporting is accurate and up to date. 
  • Monitor and address any issues with SAP and MES during the development of new programs and ensure data in MES is accurate.
  • Communicate OEE results and monthly KPI’s to the management team.
  • Conduct daily floor rounds and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform safety audits monthly and help lead monthly Safety Committee meetings as part of management commitment.
  • Reinforce lean manufacturing principles (6S) and continuous improvements.
  • Work with Maintenance and planning to schedule machine repairs and down times.
  • Oversee the training, coaching and development of new production employees.
  • Conduct 30/60/90-day introductory and yearly evaluations. 
  • Ensure a cross training and development plan is in place to ensure future growth.
  • Mentor the Production Supervisor in Training.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, etc.) with 3-5years of supervisoryexperiencein a manufacturing environment.

    OR

  • 10+ years of prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Previous experience in Pulp & Paper industry is strongly desired but not required.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Results-oriented and the ability to motivate a team to perform at high levels
  • Experience with troubleshooting and process improvement
  • Ability to make good decisions with an innovative approach
