Maintains a safe working environment by complying with Aleris HSE standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Implements and maintains the safety program in the facility’s supply chain department. Maintains a constant vigilance for safe and healthy working conditions of employees. This includes responsibility for maintaining a high standard for housekeeping practices. Make employees aware of job hazards directly and through subordinate supervisor. Ensures proper safety training of employees and compliance with company safety rules and procedures. Investigates accidents to determine and eliminate the cause. Works closely with site HSE personnel.
Develops local supply chain strategy that supports and meets company strategy, company performance objectives and customer expectations.
Maintains routines to ensure high level performance of core supply chain metrics in terms of cost and service, including delivery and recovery/metal yield.
Oversees the coordination of inbound and outbound transportation activities.
Develops and monitors systems for accurate workcenter inventory control and productivity levels.
Direct timely customer communication and technology-enabled visibility of order and inventory tracking.
Support communications of necessary forecasting, data analysis and Sales and Operations Planning information to Supply Chain Manager, Master Planning Manager and local operations team.
Direct in-plant activities of planning and scheduling for production workcenters/warehouse/distribution and customer service.
Develop, recommend and coordinate procedures for effective planning, scheduling and utilization of materials, equipment and labor to provide on-time products to customers in a cost effective manner.
Supervise and develop the plant Roll to Gauge Supply and ABS CALP planning, scheduling, and shipping/receiving functions. This includes administration of performance assessments for direct reports.
Develop and utilize capacity planning tools and procedures.
Participates on AOS (lean) and continuous improvement teams and initiatives.
Work within the parameters created by the quality systems team. Direct activities to remain compliant on all active ISO and ABS quality system processes and controls.
Perform all other duties and projects as assigned and required by the Supply Chain Manager.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field.
5+ years in a manufacturing environment and/or Tier 1 Automotive supplier, including previous experience with production planning.
2+ years in a previous leadership role.
APICS certification of CPIM or CSCP.
Knowledge of raw materials, distribution of goods and manufacturing processes.
An understanding of business and management principles, leadership strategies and strategic planning.
Familiarity with the principles of supply chain management.
Extensive knowledge of ERP business systems.
Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Computer proficient with ability to present functional specifications to the IT Department. Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles. Ability to learn new software packages quickly and apply knowledge to daily tasks and projects. Ability to demonstrate effective team leadership and team membership skills.
Ability to provide clear task assignments, create a shared understanding of strategic direction, promotes a sense of purpose and inspires motivation. Possess a strong customer orientation.
Ability to bring together appropriate people and information to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to work in conceptual and theoretical project design and for the creation of improved systems.
Related metals manufacturing and shipping experience a plus.
