Job Summary

The Product Manager is responsible to plan, direct, manage and execute all programs and product development initiatives for Latin America for the Hardware & Home Improvement (HHI) Category. This position requires bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) and will require travel up to 30% of the time. The position reports to the Hardware & Home Improvement LATAM leader and will work closely with the LATAM sales & marketing team and the global sourcing team in Asia.

This role has three main objectives: (1) to develop best-in -class products from conception to launch, (2) to develop new regional marketing programs to increase sales, build customer loyalty, improve operational efficiency, or reduce costs, and (3) to secure the best value in the industry.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Product Development (50%)

  • Follow stage-gate process to develop new products from conception to launch
  • Lead cross functional team(s) and manage project timelines, holding team members accountable for meeting deadlines
  • Serve as liaison between Sales, Graphics, R&D, Regulatory, Packaging, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Finance departments
  • Help establish product road maps within the Hardware & Home Improvement division for LATAM
  • Identify, plan and coordinate marketing activities required to launch new products
  • Analyze portfolio, competitive landscape, and sales history to find new product opportunities
  • Attend product innovation sessions with global teams, as needed

Develop and implementing new regional marketing programs: (30%)

  • Review sales & marketing processes and develop tools to improve their efficiency and effectiveness
  • Develop, implement and manage regional loyalty program
  • Help conceptualize and manage contractor network

Secure the best value in the industry (20%)

  • Lead efforts to secure better costs from new or existing suppliers
  • Analyze portfolio to find costs inconsistencies and SKU rationalization opportunities
  • Analyze supply chain and recommend improvements that can lower costs or improve customer service
  • Visit/audit factories and suppliers as needed
  • Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, adhering to the Ethics Code of Spectrum Brands
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or Operations Management or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of business experience, preferably in product development
  • Consumer product goods experience preferred

Required Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of an ideation stage gate and milestones methodology
  • Ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative research to develop new product concepts
  • Project management utilizing Microsoft Project or similar software
  • Knowledge and experience using automated scheduling tools and databases
  • Proactive problem solving identification; solving problems with the ability to assess risk/benefit and to act decisively on findings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated excellence as a team player both as a leader and member
  • High level of organizational skills
  • PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Languages - English/Spanish (Mandarin not required, but helpful)

Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Travel up to 30% of time, international travel may be required
