Product Manager, Connected Home Products

Summary

The Product Manager will be responsible for software application and services on our networking products worldwide for the connected home. This individual would be responsible for developing the services business strategy and partnerships to drive services revenue for the home market working with the cross functional teams to deliver these products & services to the market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

       Develops the Product Strategy and Roadmap for software applications targeted to home/retail customers that are differentiated, best in class and help generate services revenue on our networking products for the connected home. 

       Strong focus on defining new software applications and use cases in line with customer requirements based on keen understanding of the market and backed by market research.

       Evaluates and engages external companies for partnerships to develop or acquire necessary technology for targeted applications.

       Focus on ease of use & design for usability to meet customer requirements and help increase customer engagement and satisfaction.

       Works to establish appropriate channel & promotion strategy for the adoption and stickiness of the services.

       Establishes pricing strategy for the software products, monitors competitive price/position, and initiate price changes as needed.

       Assesses needs and opportunities for new software products through market and customer research including focus groups, in store surveys, in home customer surveys, online surveys. 

       Conducts regular market analysis and demonstrates thorough understanding of technology trends, competitive updates, pricing and user requirements. 

       Monitors revenue, margins, and sell-through and initiates actions to achieve targeted volumes and margins. Actively engages with the sales organizations & reviews online feedback to understand market acceptance, develop sales plans, and understand feature/performance enhancements needed to maintain the software product in the market over time.

       Directs the preparation of collateral (Data Sheets, Web Content, Reviewer Guides, Press Releases, Product Packaging) for a successful launch with Marketing Communications and Sales.

       Participates and drives Business Development, Training, and Industry Events activities worldwide for his/her responsible products. 

       Takes the role as internal expert as well as external spokesperson and evangelist for the company on the products and technology. 

 

Requirements

      Need a natural leader who can provide a vision for this nascent software services strategy to develop a differentiated product line that can generate revenues of +$100M

      Independent and critical thinker who can work with the team to develop innovative, customer friendly products and applications.

      Understanding of Wireless Networking and IoT markets

      Proven track record of launching Consumer apps in the market targeted for the home consumer sold through iOS/Android app-store

      Strong understanding of and/or experience of consumer trends to help translate into software products and drive improved product usability.

      Experience working directly with engineering, IT & UI/UX teams to define, develop and deliver software apps.

      Proven track record of launching new software applications and services for the home market.

      Experience in go to market and launch strategies for customer apps and services.

      Understands trends, key players, business models and technologies of consumer networking

      Ability to clearly articulate, influence & gain support for project vision. 

      Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player to work closely with cross-functional teams. 

      Demonstrated leadership skills to focus internal resources, coordinate R&D and sales force and all functional departments, and coordinate business partners. 

      Proven track record of driving product and business strategy for a software product category. 

      5+ work experience in consumer software product management role

      B.S./B.A. minimum,. MBA or related mastersdegreerequired
