Responsibilities

The Federal Product Manager is chartered to lead product strategy, product definition, and opportunity identification for Iron Mountain services in the US Federal market segment to drive revenue growth and market leadership.This is a high visibility role that requires a self-driven individual who can manage and drive cross-functional teamswithin the federal business unit and across the larger organization, often working under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.This position represents Iron Mountain to customers, prospects, partners, competitors, as well as internally.

The successful candidate maintains a current understanding of Federal government trends, and analyzes and evaluates the marketplace to identify products opportunities. The ideal candidate will coordinate and analyze market research findings and collaborate on the generation of product concepts while also being able to communicate concepts persuasively to a variety of audiences.The ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of assessing the needs of the federal government community.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understand the US Federal government market, sales and customer needs, challenges and pain points by working closely with Product Marketing and Sales counterparts.

  • Gather input both internally and externally to define product concepts, develop detailed requirements, feature definition and implementation plans.

  • Refine, evaluate and execute product strategy and roadmap including actionable “build, partner or buy” options to maximize opportunity in the Federal market.

  • Develop and maintain detailed “go-to-market” plans for each service offering within the Iron Mountain Federal portfolio.

  • Use client interaction and feedback to identify and expand services to drive Iron Mountain’s differentiation position.

  • Conduct market research and monitor industry trends including reviewing competitive analysis, customer surveys and reporting, technology trends, etc.

  • Package, price and bundle service offerings.

  • Engage in an active communication, and build relationships, with the North America Product Management Team and Business Unit Product Teams (i.e., Product Managers, Data Center Team, Cloud Team, Disaster Recovery) to represent the interests of the Federal business as Iron Mountain develops new solutions.

  • Serve as a solutioning lead for client facing opportunities as well as internal Sales Team enablement.

  • Determine strategic and tactical activities to execute against sales goals for optimum revenue and bookings contribution from products / solutions.

  • Analyze current product and service offering financial performance; work with finance and operations teams to assess and understand necessary information for decision making. Support annual budget planning, and coordinate internal processes to align with P&L targets.

  • Monitor, analyze and report measurement against the key performance indicators.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years in product management in a managed services environment with experience leading launch and “go-to-market” programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from accredited college or university or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.

  • Federal IT and services market experience and understanding, including understanding of Federal initiatives, budget cycle and procurement practices is preferred.

  • Some overnight travel required (approx 10%)

  • Proven leader who can define product strategies while tactically supporting sales efforts and deal closures.

  • Solid strategic analytical skills (i.e. market and competitor dynamics, business performance).

  • Collaborate with peers and independently multi-task, prioritize, make high-level decisions, meet aggressive deadlines, and communicate trade-offs and decisions to all stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and execution in rapidly changing environment with competing and shifting priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and outstanding presentation skills for a variety of audiences including executives, partners, customers, and media. Internal relationships will span the organization in both seniority (C-Level to staff) and business function.

  • Creative thinking, critical analysis and problem-solving skills, along with flexibility/adaptability are essential.
