Objective:
The Product line Manager 2 is the primary point of contact for external customers and is responsible for the execution of intermediate programs (for ex introduction of an existing seat model into a new aircraft ) or an assigned subset of a larger and/or more complex programs from PLS3 through PLS5 and also taking into account delivery of the final aircraft and closure of any open items.
The Product line Manager 2 is responsible for contribution margin of the production phase. Must keep the program in scope or to properly negotiate time and budget when the scope increases or to refuse the scope increase if it is not practical. This position works under minimal supervision.
Main Function Responsibilities:
1. Position responsibilities and activities:
- Responsible for leading their integrated product team (IPT) in the daily execution of program activities.
- Responsible for implementing a product matching 100% to the one used for the cost base in the bid and to make him/her self-knowledgeable of all elements of the bid including the cost base.
- Coordinate and launch cost monitoring + steering of a general RC down routine for assigned products which may include legacy and crew seats
2. RFQ validation:
- Clarifies RFQ scope of work expected by the customer with sales team and/or customer.
- Coordinates with estimator on pricing package assumptions.
- Coordinates with engineering for drawing and technical proposal support.
- Follows up proposal submission with customer and/or salesperson.
- Participates in contract negotiations as required.
- Teams with estimating team and/or salesperson on developing and presenting proposals.
3. Program Management
- Kicks off new programs following product line processes, establish expectations, and identify pacing items.
- Manages the project scope, budget, timeline and risks.
- Leads program status meetings and work bottlenecks.
- Communicates program status to sales team and upper management.
- Sets expectations and facilitates clear and open lines of communication both internally and externally.
- Monitors all open action items to ensure timely closure.
- Coordinates resources between divisions for programs.
- Monitors budget status on all programs with senior management.
- Support the Program Manager when a new program development of our product line is sold to the customer.
4. Financial monitoring
- Monitors the scope of work and initiate formal changes when necessary to obtain proper concessions on prices, weights and lead times, where appropriate.
- Tracks, manages and reports non-recurring expenses to operate within budget limits.
- Tracks, manages and reports recurring costs at standard to operate within the quotation parameters and achieve the bid contribution margins.

5. PLM specific tasks
- Support the Business Development activities during the bid phase up to award of business.
- Support the Customer Program team in the instantiation of the Product-Line into a customer Product.
- Escalate to the Executive any risk or issues that require senior attention
- Interface with the Marketing, Engineering, Quality, Procurement and line side maintenance teams, for all aspects of Product-Line Management and ongoing support to instantiated Customer Programs from the Product-Line
- Support SSUSA and Group Executive
- Identify Business Plan opportunities for the Product-Line and document the Exec Decision making process.
6. Team Leadership and development
- Provide 'Ad-Hoc' support to the team members requiring additional mentoring, guidance and development.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:
A. Education & Qualification:
• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related business management or related engineering discipline or 6 years related experience in lieu of Bachelor's level degree to meet the education requirement. OR Requires an Associate's degree in a related business management or related engineering discipline and 5 years related experience in lieu of Bachelor's level degree to meet the education requirement.
• PMP certification is preferred.
B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge
• In addition to meeting the education requirement, requires an additional 5 years' experience in a project or program team environment/exposure.
C. Professional Skills:
• Understand customer technical, schedule and programmatic requirements, as well as the technology and product development necessary to carry out the program to meet customer expectations.
• Must have excellent negotiating skills and be very comfortable in adversarial business environments.
• Requires in depth comprehension of technical customer management and engineering.
