Provide new and innovative products to the Mohawk team. Stay up-to-date on current trends in the marketplace. Utilize existing technologyto fullest extent and keep abreast of new technology. Maintain competitive edge in the marketplace with technical knowledge of flooring and relating that to current assets (or recommend new technology). Reach new product milestones to enable Mohawk to have a successful market – These include scouting, specification of new products, reviews at Advisory Council, Customer reviews, RVP meeting and Market
Review and cover existing and new yarn needs for introductions including bulk, luster, denier and twist requirements for their applications. Work with extrusion and/or Twist and heat set to accomplish needed end result.
Issue YO’s for new trials including space dye and solution dye color needs along with enhancement of existing SKU’s
Create samples (pilot and production) on specific gauges using thread ups, color placement, densities and price points to address needs for the current season of introductions with the product manager.
Interact with the Pilot plant and dye lab to complete scouting samples
Maintain scouting initiatives both required and some blue sky attempts.
Supply information for product specification going to production and review prior to launch.
Understand costs on new products to insure they are costed competitively with existing in house and external needs
Review products with Manufacturing to get their buy in on the new products and address any concerns.
Handle yarn SKU maintenance for including drops or adds
Handle carpet SKU drops or adds as new yarns, or techniques become available or obsolete.
Set up new product specifications working with MDM
Attend Yarn Quarterback meetings and handle disposition of all yarns either distressed or over runs to create either running line or special goods products to deplete inventory
Understand competitive landscape by visiting customers and analyzing competitor port folio
Work directly with Product Management – Understand portfolio and recommend new products and improvements to existing products
Work directly with designers and technicians to finalize new products
Address manufacturing quality issues with new products. Support the improvement of existing products working directly with manufacturing and technical
Travel to market shows to better understand competitor new introductions
Be the fiber/carpet expert in the assigned category. This requires interaction with ELT and other business leaders to educate and recommend path forward.
Be proficient in Diver and AS400 to pull and analyze quality, production and sales data
Proficient in excel and power point to create presentations and data tables and present to Product Management, customers and other business leaders
Excellent follow up skills that enable team to reach new product milestones
Lead the Weekly New Products meeting for their fiber
Bachelor’s degree preferred
5+ years carpet or textile manufacturing experience for an organization of comparable scope and complexity required.
4+ years of demonstrated management/leadership experience that includes demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership experience with an emphasis on relationship management with all levels within an organization of comparable size and structure
Diver and AS400 experience.
Excel and PowerPoint proficiency. Must be able to create professional presentations and data tables.
Excellent presentation skills. Required to present to internal and external customers.
Demonstrated experience managing resources to meet organizational goals across multiple projects
Ability to act as a managerial advisor on professional and technical issues with view towards reaching strategic decisions. Ability to manage conflicting demands for resources through negotiation.
Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills. Ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with internal and external customers, senior management, vendors and regulatory agencies.
Ability and willingness to accept responsibility; to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, and Persistence and willingness to take calculated risks, to stimulate, market and sell new ideas within the organization.
