Job Title: Product Engineer - Direct Hire / Full Time / Perm

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. Develops recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation.

Duties: 

  • Applies existing applications to routine problems. 
  • Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. 
  • This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects. 
  • Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. 
  • Learns and applies company engineering policies and practices; learns company products. Executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation. 
  • ?Required Skill Set?:
  • Perform basic product design and analysis work for a defined portion of a project within a team environment.  
  • Provide input to design solutions, participate in design reviews and develop recommendations within established guidelines.  
  • Work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation.

Description of the major duties performed in this job:

  • Produce and/or evaluates possible design solutions that meet product requirements for cost, quality and performance based on knowledge of engineering applications while working within a cross-functional team. 
  • Apply existing applications to routine problems.
  • Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
  • Compile and furnish necessary information to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design into production (engineering decisions, reports, part drawings and bill-of-material).
  • Learn and apply company engineering policies and practices; learn about company products.
  • Support development and execution of test and/or analysis plan for product verification and validation.
  • Specialized skills, knowledge and education:
  • Degree in an Engineering/Technology/Science discipline or equivalent experience. University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
  • Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools. Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.  
  • Experience using Creo Parametric is preferred.
  • Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to Product Design. Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.

Work Experience:

  • 1 or more year(s) industry experience in product design required
  • Experience in suspension design beneficial but not required
  • Experience in vehicle hydraulic design beneficial but not required
  • Engineering experience related to Product Design ? Less than 1 year
  • Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems
  • Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. ? Less than 1 year
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. ? Less than 1 year
