Product Engineer IISupports alignment of product families to target sales channels while improving manufacturability through structured DFM/A approach. Designs specific market target products when required.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of experience in engineering within a manufacturing environment and/or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering fundamentals; particularly in the areas of stress analysis, fluids, thermodynamics and instrumentation.
Essential (Major) Job Functions - Provides technical support for products to business sales and manufacturing.
- Leads & participates in the continuous improvement process for products, systems, and methods, including responding to customer problems when required.
- Verifies, validates, and designs new, innovative and/or upgraded products in response to approved marketing specifications from Product Market Managers.
Other Job Functions - Evaluate Spirax Sarco products and those of competitors as required
- Develops customization of Special Price Quotes (SPQ's) for standard products.
- Prepares 3D models to generate prototypes, stress and flow analyses, foundry simulations, and wireless layouts, manufacturing tooling and technical literature, etc.
- Maintains Technical Files for new products to formally document design history, verification and also the requirements for Canadian Registration, and relevant European directives and FM/IEEE approvals.
- Provides comprehensive drawings and supporting data that incorporate "Best Practices.
- Guides and trains production employees on new or improved products. May serve as a mentor to less experienced engineers.
- Actively participates in project teams to develop products that meet specifications and quality and reliability standards in the minimum time to market.
- Serves as project manager as assigned, for value engineering and other projects.
