An industry-leading manufacturer of gas fired water heating equipment, based in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a Product Engineer to work in Mississauga, Ontario location.


Qualified candidates will have 5 or more years of engineering experience as a Product Engineer, responsible for multiple projects within the Engineering department including R&D, design reviews, engineering calculations, testing, certification, scheduling, and coordination with fabrication facilities, and project completion. May include such functions as: product design and technical definition, development of bill of materials, product modification, and technical support of a product line and problem resolution. Technical emphasis is on combustion as well as hydronic design. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred.




  • Provide support in bringing to the market new appliances from conceptual design to finish product, on time and on budget.
  • Provide support in sustaining engineering of existing products.
  • Conduct R&D and laboratory testing.
  • Provide engineering support for jurisdictions compliance.
  • Provide technical support to the CAD department.
  • Provide engineering support to production.
  • Stay abreast on industry trends, government regulations and new product development.
  • Provide engineering support to customers.
  • Support sales process in terms of specification and design.
  • Schedule individual projects, make adjustments as needed to ensure project completion in projected time frame.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • BachelorDegree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree.
  • 3+ years Product/Mechanical Engineering experience with companies that manufacture gas fired hot water appliances or relevant products. Experience in the heat transfer industry is required.
  • Knowledge of combustion and hydronics design as well as instrumentation and controls as applied.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for gas fired water heating equipment such as CSA, UL, ASME, AHRI, etc.
  • Knowledge of residential, commercial or industrial HVAC equipment and components such as heat exchangers, boilers, water heaters, fans, pumps and controls.
  • Knowledge of building communication protocols (such as BACnet, Modbus, Metasys N2 and LonWorks).
  • Good understanding of manufacturing (fabrication, machining and assembly) processes.
  • Technical knowledge and ability to utilize variety of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks and projects and work within a multi-discipline engineering team with minimum supervision.
  • Experience with electrical concepts is preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities.
  • Experience with Autodesk programs such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ASME boiler and pressure vessel design is a plus.
  • Professional Project Management skills is a plus.
