Job Description

Job Summary:

Molex Connected Mobility Solutions is looking for a Product Engineer with strong interest in Project Management responsibilities. This individual will support automotive product development for communication systems components such as Micro-Processors, USB, Ethernet, PMIC, etc... driving to Zero PPM products. These products consist of modules and custom ASIC’s to support automotive module development.

The Product Engineer will work with internal project teams and ecosystem affiliates to develop product specifications/data sheets, product verification and test plans, silicon verification and characterization plans, bench testing plans and device compliance certification plans. They will also oversee collecting/analyzing characterization data (using statistical analysis tools), collecting and reviewing R&R data and writing final characterization reports. They will also oversee qualification testing (HTOL, ESD, Latch-up, etc.). Once all characterization, qualification and test verification is complete, the Product Engineer will facilitate all release-to-production activities and post production support to include device issue debug on RMA products, and driving test optimization and yield enhancement.

Additional Interests/Responsibilities Include: Project Management duties include coordination of internal resources and development Eco-System/Vendors for the flawless execution of projects. Work with project team and development Eco-System/Vendors to define project schedules and budgets. Ensure proper stakeholders involvement for effective decision making within the projects. Manage resource availability and allocation to ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. Oversee system compliance to applicable standards and product adherence to customer and internal requirements

Essential Functions:
Reliability & Validation

  • Provide support of new product design efforts using the Product Development Process from product concept through production.
  • Create and execute Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) plans.
  • Oversee manufacturing test and validation planning and reporting (Wafer Probe, ATE, & Board Levels)
  • Use Design & Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (d/pFMEA) and other Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques during the development process.
  • Oversee collection & analysis characterization data (using statistical analysis tools), collecting and reviewing R&R data and writing final characterization reports.
  • Oversee qualification testing (High-Temperature Operating Life, Electrostatic Discharge, Latch-up, etc.).

Project Management

  • Manage resource availability and allocation to ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Coordinates product engineering activities with engineering team across multiple projects.
  • Work with project team and development Eco-System/Vendors to define project schedules and budgets. Ensure proper stakeholders involved for effective decision making within the projects.
  • Oversee system compliance to applicable standards and product adherence to customer and internal requirements.

Post Production

  • Facilitate all release-to-production activities and post production support to include product failure analysis/debug on Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) products, driving test optimization and yield enhancement.
  • Provides technical support to customers, suppliers and inside personnel.

Position Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Product Engineering for Silicon product verification and characterization for mixed-signal IC’s.
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required, MSEE preferred. Focuses on IC product development or Computer Science a plus.
  • Experience in architect, design, and implement efficient manufacturing processes for board & ASIC products.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data analysis (Statistical Process Controls, Design of Experiments)
  • Knowledge of microprocessors and software development process
  • Experience with common test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, audio measurement equipment).
  • Track record of leading new board/system-level products through different phases of life cycle (from design to high-volume manufacturing)
  • Deep knowledge of CMOS fabrication processes
  • Understanding of System on Chip (SoC) IO interfaces (e.g. USB, SPI, UART, I2C, I2S, CSI, Ethernet, display ports, etc) and memory subsystem design
  • Capable of using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, organize effectively and document work thoroughly.
  • Ability to lead cross function teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management
  • Knowledge of hardware and software interaction (e.g. familiar with embedded low level firmware and/or embedded operating systems and H/W)
  • DFx knowledge in electrical, thermal and mechanical components of system
  • Familiarity with automotive electronic requirements (QECQ-100, etc…) will be a plus
  • Continuous Improvement Programs (Six-Sigma or similar)
  • Experience in document and process control (PTC Integrity, Jira, or similar)
  • Automotive DFMEA and 8-D Processes
  • Knowledge in applicable interfaces such as LIN, CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet, USB
  • Requirements definition and management
  • Embedded systems architecture and engineering experience
  • Leader in Software New Product Development /Introduction (NPD/NPI) methodologies; Waterfall and Agile approaches
  • Configuration management and revision control tools (Git, SVN, Perforce, or similar)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other technical leaders and stakeholders inside and outside the organization
