Position Purpose and Requirements

Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering. May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members. Refers problems that cannot be resolved to the next level. Serves as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 5 years experience in product design/development
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 3 years experience in product design/development
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

  • PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

Desired Skills:

  • Self-motivated candidate able to conduct work with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Demonstrable ability to plan, execute and track progress of tasks necessary to complete his/her assignments.
  • Demonstrable ability to derive conclusions from analysis and make practical recommendations.
  • Familiarity with commercial data acquisition systems and software (INCA, LabVIEW) and experience using data acquisition and instrumentation systems for conducting physical tests.
  • Familiarity with commercial computational mathematics software (MATLAB).
  • Knowledge of on-road physical testing methods for commercial vehicle performance assessment and certification.
  • Knowledge of SAE standards for external aerodynamics measurements and on-road vehicle testing.
  • Familiarity with Star-CCM+ or other commercial CFD solvers and experience using CFD to assess vehicle aerodynamic performance.
  • Familiarity with commercial CFD pre-processors (ANSA).
  • Knowledge of numerical methods used in CFD analysis.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system.
  • Knowledge of C and Java programming languages.
  • Ability to work within team-oriented environment.
  • Willing to travel to support off-site testing.
  • Good communication skills: written and verbal.
