As a Product Design Engineer at our Pomona, CA facility that manufactures cutting edge products for our Cylinders business, you will design products, plan and execute qualification programs for commercial and advanced composites pressure vessels.
Will coordinate technical requirements with customer in conjunction with Sales and Marketing department. Reviews customer proposal requirements and prepares proposal design and technical requirements for costing purposes.
Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning
Responsible for (re)designing, planning and qualification of new High Pressures Composites Cylinders for industrial, commercial and aerospace markets.
Take conceptual designs through supplier sourcing, design development, product validation, manufacturability, and product launch.
Upgrade existing designs to meet current requirements, improving reliability and reducing cost when possible while maintaining the
Coordinate and conduct product design verification testing under various regulatory and statutory specifications.
Communicate with and provide support to the Sales and Marketing departments during the quotation process, design review and final deliverables.
Create & execute design changes of varying degrees of complexity by ensuring that performance parameters are met while meeting quality targets during launch.
Participate in Material Review Board activities
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years experience in product designing and development.
Experience in manufacturing and / or design of Composites pressure vessels a major plus.
Working knowledge on FEA software - COSMOS, ANSIS; CAD Design - AUTOCAD and/or SOLIDWORKS; Microsoft Office Tools.
Working knowledge on material properties and processing of Aluminum Alloys and Composites materials using Carbon, Aramids and Glass fibers in matrix with various resins systems.
Working knowledge in general design principles, configuration management, CAD/CAE, FEA, stress analysis, and material’s science with focus on Composite Materials and Aluminum Alloys
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to perform detailed analyses with technical decision making
