Job Goals:

Manage and direct the Global Purchasing team for Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, Solar Gard and participate as a member of cross-functional teams focused on manufacturing system improvement and business process simplification. The individual will be responsible for the Procurement process and manage all purchasing activities including the purchasing of raw materials, MRO, capital equipment, services and other commodities. The Procurement function is responsible for insuring continuous improvement in cost, service, quality and working capital by working closely with key suppliers and internal functions. The Procurement Manager will be a key member in the Global Supply Chain team, and they will insure that the Purchasing Organization can support profit growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Procurement process and manage the Purchasing activities for the global production sites within the SBU.

  • Manage all raw materials spending for business unit with annual revenues of $100+MM. Spending in range of $20-$35MM.

  • Develop 3-5 year supply strategies for key materials.

  • Develop a Purchasing organization that enables revenue and profit growth in line with Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, Solar Gard expectations as it executes its window film and Industrial growth strategy. The Procurement Manager should create a customer-centered organization focused on support of its internal and external customers.

  • Establish strong network with corporate purchasing to achieve additional cost reduction benefits.

  • Establish an environment which ensures each employee is working in a safe environment.

  • Direct buyers by providing the resources and training necessary to accomplish company and department goals, including use of SAP for forecasting, planning and inventory of raw materials.

  • Utilize the corporate purchasing tools to facilitate the management of purchasing activities and to meet corporate compliance objectives.

  • Deliver continuous improvement results in the reduction of inventory of raw materials, MRO and other items.

  • Develop Supply Chain knowledge of suppliers’ materials and markets to leverage negotiations and to present new opportunities to the organization.

  • Set and support the deployment of lean manufacturing by leveraging suppliers to meet improvement goals.

  • Deploy company objectives and strategy, enforce buying and financial policies and align way of working to the employee base.

  • Champion deployment of Total Quality Management in Purchasing.

  • Benchmark other Saint-Gobain organizations for best practices that can be practiced and implemented in a timely manner.

  • Support R&D activities for new product development and support ongoing or new CapEx projects as needed.

  • Improve the interface between IT systems, SAP and the buying and material flow processes.

  • Improvement areas of focus will include purchasing processes, inventory controls, use of MRP, scheduling and scrap control/reduction and company e-tools.

  • Perform critical analysis and due diligence as required for merger/acquisition activities.

Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Four year degree in Business or technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 7+ years’ experience in procurement and purchasing with experience in manufacturing environment preferred; including 3-5 years previous ERP/IT project management experience desired.

  • Computer savvy, including, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel required. Using features of MS Project highly desirable.

  • Experience with SAP ERP system required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Ability to coach and develop Buyers to be top notch professionals.

  • Solid analytical skills and ability to apply analysis in strategy development.

  • Demonstrated track record of leveraging large suppliers to meet quality, price and service requirements.

  • Strong results orientation and performance management skills.

  • Financial/business acumen including ability to read and interpret profit/loss statement and balance sheet.

  • Experience in buying and specifying PET films, acrylic adhesives and other specialty chemicals will be strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic statistics, graphical analysis, and DOE are preferred.

  • Global mindset, including ability to manage/influence employees not on site.

  • Ability to influence peers, subordinates and upper level directors/managers with data interpretation, presentation skills and other means of communication.

  • Ability to travel when required.
