Vacuum Casting Process Owner
The Vacuum Casting Process Owner will drive the industry's best practices, leading edge technology and process control into the business' Equiax and Directionally Solidified Vacuum Casting processes. This is a multi-faceted role that will focus on the integration of operators, materials, equipment, and technology to profitably grow production vacuum casting capacity.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing procedures related to the vacuum investment casting process
Update and train manufacturing operators and plant personnel on department procedures and best practice techniques from mold dewax, casting prep, preheat, mold handling, vacuum induction melting/casting, and post cast treatments
Ensure proper capital investments are made to provide casting capacity based on provided short- and long-term casting forecasts
Work with plant engineering and management to design, define, purchase, and install appropriately sized and technically capable vacuum casting furnaces and equipment to safely and profitably meet demand
Maintain and supply weekly uptime, yield, efficiency, and casting process control data to the plant staff and management
Manage the inventory and consumption of foundry and casting consumables and materials of use.
Where applicable, perform trials, modify procedures and change materials to reduce cost and eliminate waste.
Through attendance of industry events, basic industry research, internal DOE and other trials, improve and maintain our technological vacuum casting competence
Assist facilities and production personnel with maintaining the cleanliness and basic working condition of the area and equipment.

Minimum of 10 years combined experience in one or more of the following or directly related roles
Mold or Foundry Prep Operator or Vacuum Investment Casting Melter, Lead, Trainer or Supervisor
Area Technician or Process Engineer with responsibility for process control of or operations of a vacuum investment casting department
Manufacturing Manager, Facilities / Maintenance Lead or Manager, or Process Owner with direct responsibility for the process control or operations of a vacuum investment casting department
Understanding of basic vacuum practices and appropriate vacuum levels and sequencing of vacuum pumps as it relates to vacuum investment casting
Understanding of basic vacuum induction melting and casting practices to safely produce high quality castings
Proficient understanding of vacuum compatible materials of use, building melt boxes, packing crucibles, use of ceramic liner melt vessels
Fluent and familiar with vacuum induction melting and casting practices of Nickel and Cobalt based superalloys using conventional Equiax casting and/or DS/SC (Directionally Solidified) casting methods.
Proficient with Microsoft software Excel, Word and Outlook
Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow all safety procedures for the department
Must be able to write, speak and read fluent English
Demonstrated ability to write and modify technical documents and work instructions
Job requires an attention to detail, good organization, and time management skills
Experience with using SPC, Minitab, or Manufacturing MRP/ERP systems are a plus
Must have experience with Vacuum Castings, DS or Equiax Molds
