Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Process Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water Business Group (Wastewater Market Sector) team that can be based in any of our Washington offices (Bellevue, Seattle, Everett, Olympia, Gig Harbor, Spokane, or Pasco) with a technical background in conventional and/or advanced wastewater treatment, water reclamation, nutrient removal and outfall impacts on marine surface waters, and wastewater treatment residuals management. Project types could include new or upgrades to existing wastewater treatment plants, and residuals evaluations/management.

They will be responsible for managing and leading projects through concept, planning, design and construction phases with an emphasis on sustainable design practices; as well as a mentoring and supervising the work of younger engineers and technicians. They will need to be skilled in planning studies, field alignment studies, coordinating with sub-consultants, owners, preparing preliminary and final design, drawing preparation coordination, developing technical specifications, and performing office and field services during construction.

They will also be invested in, mentored, supported from a collaborative team to perform client management activities, project management, and to utilize state of the art technologies/software and methods (Revis, Bluebeam, NavisWorks BIM) to support our Washington based water team; but also with/from experts and other team members located throughout the US and may work on national or international projects with national-caliber experts.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited engineering program
  • PE license in Washington, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 5+ years of project experience, primarily focused on wastewater treatment
  • Must have excellent communication skills and thrive working in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred, not required Qualifications

  • MS in related discipline; preferably Civil, Chemical or Environmental from an accredited engineering program
  • BIOWIN modeling experience
  • Revit and NavisWorks design experience.
