JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Process Improvement Engineer, Specialist is to serve as an “expert consultant” to CNSI projects and Centers of Excellence, including the evaluation, planning, and implementation of improvements based on best practices in business processes and practices. This role is responsible for improving quality, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and improving cycle time resulting in significant improvement, customer satisfaction, and overall service excellence. This role is a member of the Enterprise Performance Excellence team and reports directly to the Process Improvement Engineer, Manager or Enterprise Performance Excellence, Director. CNSI supports a high-volume healthcare data system that is accessed through multiple web portals. This high-volume system operates out of multiple data centers and must reliably be available to its clients 7x24x365.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process Improvement:

  • Leads the implementation of and adherence to Agile, ISO, ITIL and CMMI best practices organization-wide.

  • Functions as an individual contributor, working under no supervision.

  • Leads audits, assessments, and inspections to ensure compliance with CMMI Level 3, iVision360, and the Governance and Execution Model (GEM).

  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive quality assurance (QA) plan that encompasses monitoring and reviews of the GEM, including all projects under the auspices of Agile, CMMI, ITIL, and ISO.

  • Leads non-conformance investigations and root cause analysis and works with project teams to close corrective actions.

  • Develops, collects, and analyzes metrics and recommends ways to continuously improve.

  • Reports audit findings to project and business function leadership with recommendations for resolution.

  • Proposes appropriate corrective actions and verifies that corrective actions have been documented and implemented.

  • Plays a leading role in institutionalizing best practices within the Enterprise Performance Excellence team and works cross-functionally to ensure best practices are implemented across the organization.

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of process improvement practices to ensure high quality.

  • Demonstrates advanced expertise and contributes to the Enterprise Performance Excellence practice by publishing points of view through the creation of white papers.

General:

  • Frequently answers questions about the GEM and iVision360 methodology, or other relevant project methodology within the first year of employment.

  • Demonstrates expert understanding of CNSI's process improvement and QA practices and procedures.

  • Leads in facilitating cross-functional project teams.

  • Leads continuous improvement activities at all levels of the organization.

  • Applies Lean Six Sigma methods to design and implement process efficiencies.

  • Measures process improvement benefits after Lean Six Sigma changes are implemented.

  • Participates in SCAMPI appraisals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports reviews of Associate Process Improvement Engineers, Process Improvement Engineers and Senior Process Improvement Engineers Position.

MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree with 12+ years of Process Improvement Engineer or related experience (Preferred Majors: Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline).

  • Demonstrated extensive experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Experience in the healthcare industry.

  • Strong background in information technology.

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in CMMI DEV SCAMPI appraisals.

  • PMP certification.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Strong understanding of SharePoint applications, WebEx, Skype, etc.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio, with a working knowledge of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

  • Expert knowledge of two or more methodologies (such as Agile, ITIL, CMMI, Lean Six Sigma, Balanced Scorecard, ISO best practices).

  • Expert knowledge of project management standards, methodologies, and practices.

  • Knowledge of CMMI for Development.

  • Industry knowledge of QA standards, methodologies, and practices.

  • Domain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare verticals.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, and to communicate appropriately and positively with project team members and stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
