Responsible for designing primarily agricultural (biosystems) and support for mineral processing systems. Work products produced to acceptable engineering and McLanahan Corporation standards in order to meet the needs of customers.
Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:- Follow direction provided by Integrated Systems Engineering and Director of Process Engineering.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
- Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization's core values.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Develop process flow sheets, mass balances and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams for mainly agricultural and, as necessary, mineral processing systems, write plant narratives to clearly convey the plant operation to the Controls Group and Customer.
- Provide technical support by developing technical programs and materials and by assisting with process design, equipment selection, and quotations.
- Initiate product improvement to meet changing market needs.
- Conduct market research to determine customer needs. Communicate with customers to fully understand needs and goals.
- Maintain current understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets.
- Represent company at trade association meetings to promote McLanahan expertise, stay up to speed on industry trends, competitive offerings, and present peer reviewed papers or educational seminars.
- Train and present process systems information to customers and others as needed.
- Regular domestic and occasional international travel required (typically 25% in total).
- Lead plant and/or equipment commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Conduct pilot tests on site.
- Work with and occasionally assist lab with material characterization. Suggest and guide Lab Manager on protocols required for the agricultural industry.
Education/Qualifications/Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience.
- Prior experience in biosystems engineering, agricultural engineering or mining industry preferred.
Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes: - Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Computer literate including familiarity with MS Office applications (AutoCad a plus).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Physical Requirements:This position is typically located in an office setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both oral and written communication.
