This individual will lead a group of Process Engineers based at various manufacturing facilities which will validate, develop, maintain and support battery manufacturing processes. They will also introduce and maintain process control, lead process innovation and process enhancements to assure high quality and cost effective products.
Individual will supervise team members within the process group; lead assigned individuals within scope of defined programs or projects. Support in the development of department budgets & supervisory control over expenditures. Provide talent development & selection and define and manage resource requirements. The position will be located in either Columbus, GA, Salina, KS or Kansas City.
Essential duties include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Develop manufacturing processes in coordination with the introduction of new or improved product designs and product components and materials.
Review existing processes, introduce process control methodologies and continuously improve in coordination with manufacturing plant requests and feedback.
Supervisory responsibility for maintaining NA Process Engineering within budgetary performance.
Modify Process Specifications and Work Instructions to improve plant manufacturing processes or in support of other departments.
Validate new equipment installations to ensure delivery of desired outputs
Manage process improvement projects which include coordinating with plant personnel and outside suppliers.
Coordinate activities in support of other departments.
Provide process technical support as required for internal personnel and customers.
General coordination of department’s day to day operations
Daily coordination of NA Process Engineering personnel resources.
Talent development & training within the NA Process Engineering.
Joint assessment with supervising manager department’s performance & personnel reviews.
Joint development with supervising manager of department budget.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt highly desired.
Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in manufacturing or chemical environment – preferably in the battery industry.
Minimum of 5 years managerial experience of functional team and related projects
Demonstrate an ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups.
Planning & Organizing – Ability to generate and execute project plans, managing schedule, objectives, resources and budget in a cross functional environment.
Effectively prioritize tasks to meet project schedules – work on multiple tasks simultaneously, both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
