Job Description

Ripple is looking for an enthusiastic Process Engineer to join our small and awesome Pilot Plant crew. The successful candidate will be a true team player and someone who is willing (and excited) to jump in and do it all - from operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment, to designing experiments and analyzing data, to supporting manufacturing trials… and everything in between!

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

· Design and execute experiments at lab and pilot scale

· Analyze and present experimental data

· Train new employees on equipment operation and safety

· Support manufacturing trials at contract manufacturers

· Clean, maintain, and operate pilot scale equipment

· Manage raw material inventory

· Maintain order and hygiene in all areas

· Purchase and install new equipment in the pilot plant

· Champion safety and continuous improvement

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, or other applicable engineering ﬁeld

· 5-8+ years of food or biotech industry experience

· The ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

· A positive, collaborative attitude

· Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment

· A focus on safety

· Willingness to travel up to 25%

Bonus points if you have:

· Mechanical aptitude and a desire to disassemble/reassemble equipment

· Understanding of the underlying chemistry in biochemical separations

· Experience with pilot scale or manufacturing scale equipment

· Experience with cleaning and sanitization processes

· Experience with statistical software (JMP preferred)

· Forklift Certification

About Ripple Foods

Ripple Foods is a California-based brand of pea-protein dairy alternative products. The company was founded in 2014 by Adam Lowry and Neil Renninger in Emeryville, California. In 2017, Ripple Foods entered a deal with natural food distributor United Natural Foods to bring their pea protein beverage to the Canadian market. At launch, the company sold original, vanilla, and chocolate pea protein beverage products at Whole Foods Market and Target stores in the United States. The product consists of protein from powdered yellow peas, which have been separated from the plant's taste and color molecules. Single-serve bottles and kid's paper cartons were later introduced. In July 2017, a pea protein half and half was released in original and vanilla. A Greek-style yogurt launched in late 2017 and is available in five flavors. Pea protein based ice cream and cheese products are planned for release in 2018, according to the company. The company started with a $13.6M series A round in order to help fund research and development. In July 2016, Ripple Foods raised a $30M series B funding round, led by GV. In early 2018, the company raised a $65 million series C funding round.
