General Summary:
For all 3 of the Company’s plants, drives the development, implementation, and sustainment of efficient plant operations to ensure optimization of equipment, automation, consistent processes, and staff productivity.Project manages new equipment installations as well as Paper Bag ERP implementation and Company technology enhancements.

Pocess Improvement 50%:
Identifies opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency in plants both on the shop floor and in office processes. Advises management regarding plant and machinery design and capabilities. Identifies opportunities for improvement, develops and presents process flows, analyses, and test plans, and facilitates discussions with management that drive decision making. Conducts necessary studies and cost analyses to promote the most efficient use of physical and personnel resources. Troubleshoots and process maps equipment needs and modifications, process enhancements, plant efficiencies, & scrap reduction. Determines standards and policies for equipment installation and enhancements, inspections, maintenance and performance including directing maintenance, plant
leadership, and production staff to schedule and operate equipment most efficiently. Takes steps to modify the way employees perform work that includes equipment optimization, process optimization, and maximizing worker effectiveness. Equipment and equipment operation may change, processes may change, staffing levels or required jobs or tasks may change, and/or redundant or non-value addedtasks may stop. Plays key role in IT implementation and production support improvement efforts to automate and simplify processes and reduce manual entry.

Project Management 50%:
Enables successful and timely execution of assigned projects by utilizing project management tools combined with technical knowledge and lean manufacturing principles to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and meet quality
standards, and project goals. Uses project management tools to document and track progress against project scope, milestones and timelines, required resources, and financial requirements. Develops project plans, partners internally with plant staff and Corporate and externally with vendors and consultants to align stakeholders to successfully deploy projects. Leads cross functional project meetings and ensures project team members deliver assigned workstreams and tasks on time according to plan. Identifies and escalates issues and risks to Sr management. Manages execution of automation and capital improvement projects and ROI
proposals and leads analysis and documentation for equipment decisions.
Some key projects managed include 1) New press implementations 2) Equipment purchases/installation/upgrades. Establishes and maintains performance metricsand evaluates project effectiveness post implementation. Incorporates continuous learning into future projects. Develops companywide project management tools and processes and shares with others as a project resource for the company.

Required Preferred Course of Study
High School Diploma or GED:
Two year degree or Technical School:
Bachelor’s Degree (4 yr): Engineering, pref. industrial, mechanical, mfg
Advanced Degree (JD, PhD, MBA, etc):
Years Description of Experience
5+yrs Manufacturing engineer experience, preferably with multiple sites
5+ yrs Lean manufacturing experience
3+yrs Project management experience
2+yrs Experience working with complex manufacturing equipment
1+yrs Packaging industry experience preferred
1+yrs Experience with printing presses is highly desirable

Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, automation, and related processes
* Proven track record delivering process improvements and enhanced automation
* Technical proficiency to understand optimal equipment operation, run speeds and capabilities and ability to develop and implement effective plans to improve
* Experience managing multiple and varied capital projects at a time including but not limited to new press and bag machine implementation, rebuilding and/or decommissioning old equipment, and implementation of ERP system and enhanced technology processes
* Understanding of tradeoffs of automation with ability to quantify impacts and political savvy to effectively recommend and implement win win solutions
* Strong analytical and financial skills to gather, analyze, interpret, and present data and summariesand impactful business cases
* Self-initiated problem solver who can quickly and independently diagnose status quo, identify and prioritize opportunities, and develop recommendations for improvement that inspire action
* Critical thinking skills and able to anticipate potential problems before they arise, brainstorm
solutions, and recommend trade offs
* Strong knowledge of lean and project mgmt tools to develop and execute effective project plans
* Excellent communication skills with people of all levels including production employees, plant and
office staff, Corporate leaders, vendors, equipment manufacturers, and customers
* Highly flexible individual who can manage multiple time sensitive and varied projects
* Experience in developing and leading organization-wide improvement initiatives
* Working knowledge of equipment manufacturers, industry, suppliers, and customer needs to be
able to assist in new product development
* Strong technology user who is detail oriented to work with engineering tools, financial and project
management tools, production systems, and other systems
* Capable implementer who can communicate downward and across the organization and train and
inspire plant support staff to implement changed behaviors and processes
* Manufacturing and Manufacturing systems experience
* ERP experience and with migrating to ERP
* Solid understanding of manufacturing and operations including waste, scrap, productivity, and
down time to be able to identify and implement improvements
