Process Engineer (Batch processing)  –  North Carolina

Major international chemical manufacturer is looking for a strong Chemical Engineer with direct experience in Batch Processes to join the Engineering team at their largest North American site.

Detailed design, configuration, integration and implementation of process control solutions for our chemicalproduction units including batch configuration, PLC / DCS systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems. Troubleshoot and maintain the existing plant I/E and control equipment for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly plant operation. Provide technical direction as it relates to process control, I/E design and equipment specifications. Essential duties include:

  • Applyengineering expertise, analyze data for trends, and identify process & operational improvements
  • Write and maintain batch process procedures 
  • Drive improvements, process optimizations, and improved process control to enhance product quality, yields, energy and other cost improvements
  • Preparing deliverables including: material balances, flow sheets and design calculations
  • Follow all of the ISO procedures regarding process control and documentation
  • Investigate and plan corrective actions along withapplying statistical techniques in order to improve, track, investigate quality problems
  • Promoting a culture of working safely and applying safety related concepts into process design.
  • Apply root cause analysis techniques and creative alternatives to technical related problems
  • Maintaining effective communications and working relationships withoperators, maintenance, project engineering, contractor, administrative support, and R&D personnel
  •  Provide knowledge of engineering concepts to include thermodynamics, heat transfer, etc.
  • Capital project management to include coordination of all phases of capital projects from business justification to start-up including scope development, evaluation and selection of technical alternatives, construction management and start-up

Candidates for this position must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Three years’ experience in chemical processing industry or comparable experience in manufacturing
  • Possess thorough knowledge and have ability of improving production and improving costs
  • Experience utilizing DCS controls
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of chemistry
  • Knowledge of plant utilities systems including operations, troubleshooting and maintenance 
  • Ability to interpret drawings and P&IDs

The ideal candidate would also have the following skills:

  • Experiencewith ethylene oxide & propylene oxide
  • EIT or PE License
  • Experiencewith Honeywell DCS
