Summary

The Pro Bono Practice Manager, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm's strategic initiatives, will offer direct support to the US-based Pro Bono counsel and team as well as New Perimeter team. You will interface with firm lawyers and staff, supporting the Pro Bono team's efforts to direct and manage the firm's pro bono program and respond to the needs of our clients, communities and lawyers.

Location

This position is located in our Washington, DC office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting, Databases, and Data Analysis
    • Works with the business and accounting teams to ensure that the pro bono team has key pro bono metrics, statistics and information about the firm's performance, including the use of internal resources, such as firm dashboards.
    • Collects, develops, analyzes, and effectively presents data regarding pro bono performance and key metrics.
    • Generates reports in response to internal and external inquiries about pro bono performance and engagement.
    • Works with the pro bono team to develop presentations about the firm's pro bono performance and strategic plans.
    • Assists with maintaining the internal pro bono web page, including updates on projects, committees, newsletters, brochures, videos, Bulletins, and FAQs.
  • Pro Bono Clinics
    • Assists with clinic planning and logistics, including arranging CLE. Organizes and manages the firm's pro bono clinics, including working with legal services providers and firm clients to coordinate pro bono clients and matters. Works with pro bono counsel to ensure protocols are followed, including conflict checks and agreements.
    • Works with pro bono counsel to provide a review of clinics and collaborations with external clients and legal services providers, including updating our clinic protocol and other procedural documentation.
    • Assists pro bono counsel in developing new clinic opportunities as well as set an annual calendar of limited scope pro bono clinics across the country.
    • Collaborates with our communications team to share news about the impact of our pro-bono clinics.
  • Marketing & Communications
    • Works closely with the firm's marketing and communications teams to assist with developing and implementing the pro bono team's internal and external communications strategies.
    • Manages and maintains pro-bono content on the firm's external and internal websites.
    • Creates pro bono-related communications for the firm's internal and external websites.
    • Assists the pro bono team with internal and external communications collateral, including drafting, editing, and proofreading communications.
    • Assists with preparing short stories about pro bono projects and clinics on a weekly basis, as well as working on monthly newsletters, annual publications, social media and videos.
    • Researches, facilitates and prepares nominations for pro bono awards for the firm and its attorneys and staff.
    • Works with marketing to prepare ads for events with legal services providers and organizations across the country.
  • Pro Bono Strategy
    • Assists with strategic planning for the pro bono team.
    • Assists with aligning pro bono goals with firm goals and coordinate with other firm practice groups and managers as well as departments including recruiting, diversity and inclusion, communications and marketing, accounting, IT, and professional development.
    • Helps maintain email groups, distribution lists, and schedules/calendars of pro bono clinics and events.
  • Event Planning
    • Helps plan events such as awards/celebration events, training programs, Advisory Board meetings, information sessions and speaking events.
    • Proactively assist pro bono counsel attending pro bono conferences and events and encourage and secure thought leadership opportunities such as speaking engagements, etc.
    • Assists pro bono counsel plan and prepare for office pro bono committee meetings, including agenda and presentations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook and comfortable with technology troubleshooting. Advanced training with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams platforms. Familiarity with Power BI and actionable data reports. Excellent writing and editing skills. Project management skills. Experience working with databases, data analysis and reports. Willingness to work in a busy, fast-paced, friendly team environment. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Creative marketing and storytelling skills using a variety of communications tools. Ability to be self-motivated and resourceful, and to work independently. Demonstrated commitment to public interest, social justice, access to justice, rule of law, and/or community service. Spanish or other language skills preferred. Experience with event planning. Past participation in legal clinics. Experience with recruiting, motivating, and sustaining volunteers. Comfort with law firm environments, technology, and systems. Cultural humility and experience working with nonprofits and vulnerable populations. An ability to take initiative and seize opportunities for the pro bono team and program.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or similar field.

Certificates
  • A business or law graduate preferred. A project management certification preferred.

Minimum Years of Experience
  • 5 years' professional experience focused in any of the following areas: project management, pro bono practice management, marketing, communications or related experience. Background or experience in non-profit legal aid, pro-bono work, management of corporate volunteer programs or similar field preferred.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

The firm's expected hiring range for this position is $142,788 - $189,199 per year depending on the candidate's geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate's experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
