Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Sustainability
Leads all efforts around Private Brands Sustainability (i.e. responsible retailing and responsible products)
• Establishes and oversees sustainability initiatives and commitments for the Private Brand portfolio. This includes cross-functional work across the company as well as work with outside vendors and industry groups.
• Reports compliance for Private Brands sustainability commitments and requirements, including social compliance, healthy targets, global ingredient commodities; soy, palm oil, seafood, pulp/paper, coffee, tea, cocoa etc.
• Works with supplier partners and internal clients to aid them in ensuring all the responsible product requirements are met. Makes recommendation, educates/supports them (supplier partners) through the process as needed/appropriate. Creates corrective action plans and monitors progress in conjunction with Product Integrity team.
• Monitors progress toward achievement of sustainability goals, elevates issues/risks as appropriate, and develops proposals to overcome issues.
• Functions as the Private Brands expert for Animal Welfare and represents Private Brands within RBS, at the local Brands and at a GSO level.
• Works closely with and represents the Private Brands team to the RBS Sustainability team and GSO Sustainability and Product Integrity teams to establish, update and deliver the sustainability goals for the Private Brands portfolio.
• Acts as the Private Brands sustainability representative externally; with external organizations, NGOs and media.
• Manages the communication and gain alignment with the PB Product Owners, RBS Sourcing and local Brands to accomplish our Sustainability goals while being cognizant of financial implications.
• Contributes to the development of third party vendor contracts related to the Private Brands Sustainability and Wellness program.
2. Wellness
Supports and reports efforts around Private Brands Wellness (i.e. global Healthy Eating initiatives)

• Oversees tracking and reporting of progress for wellness initiatives for 100% of Private Brands items with front-of-pack messaging to include nutrition information on the primary display panel of package design, in collaboration with PB Label & Regulatory team.
• Oversees tracking and reporting of progress for wellness initiatives for percentage of Private Brands sales from items with Guiding Stars in collaboration with PB Nutritionists and PB Analytics team.
• Works closely with and represents the Private Brands team to the RBS Sustainability team and GSO Sustainability and Product Integrity teams to establish, update and deliver the wellness goals for the Private Brands portfolio of Brands.
• Monitors progress toward achievement of sustainability goals, elevates issues/risks as appropriate, and develops proposals to overcome issues.
3. External Interactions and Consumer & Industry Awareness
Act as Private Brands resident expert for Sustainability
• Monitors competitive activity for actions related to sustainability and wellness. Reports on key findings as appropriate.
• Initiates and maintains relationships inside and outside the company to maintain awareness of emerging issues and opportunities in sustainability.
• Work with contracted experts to develop/expand sustainability programs such as chemical management.
• Keen awareness and understanding of current events, such as animal welfare, social labor and safety issues, recommend approach to follow and create solutions to meet compliance and successfully deliver business results.
• Liaises externally with third party groups (e.g. New England Aquarium, FMI, NFI, etc.) to represent Private Brands, as well as support their initiatives towards the proliferation of responsible products.
• Represents Private Brands in interfacing with government agencies/resources, collaborating with RBS Sustainability team and RBS and local Brand Communication teams.
• Uses market insights to influence strategies and actions to achieve goals.
4. Talent Development & Leadership
Leads the Private Brands Sustainability and Wellness team
• Responsible for the development, talent planning, career guidance, and performance management of Private Brands sustainability and wellness support (2 FTE).
• Influences organizational alignment across Product Excellence team (Private Brands advocate at the Brands and RBS).
• Demonstrates credibility and the ability to work with and through multiple levels of management (including Category Management leadership).
• Creates a positive work environment and has the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Delivers intentional and authentic on-going feedback. Requirements Basic Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
-5+ years of related experience
-Minimum of 2 years of people management experience
