SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for the management of injection mold tool build programs. Oversee the complete program management from part concept through to full scale production working with cross functional teams. Establish and manage a supply base for high quality SPI class 101, 102, & 103 injection mold tools as well as highly qualified medical device molding suppliers.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Manage injection mold tool build programs from concept through to production.
2.Audit injection mold tool builders throughout North America, Europe, Asia
3.Conduct mold design review with suppliers to ensure that all Covidien tooling specifications are met.
4.Establish injection mold processes using scientific principals such as mold balance experiments, rheology studies, and gate seal experimentation.
5.Establish part measurement techniques for mold steel sizing to achieve short term mold / process capability of 1.33Cpk or better.
6.Manage project financials (travel, vendor payments, and capital spend forecasting)
7.Assist in the development of Covidien long range goals and plans for mold making and molding around the world.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Designs, develops and implements industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, prototype model production and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
May use CAD/CAM to design tools.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Nice to Have

BS in Engineering, Plastics
10 years injection mold, tool-build management. Practical knowledge of mold making and injection mold processing
Working knowledge of problem solving techniques (process map, risk assessment, cause and effect diagrams, Pareto analysis, etc.)

Skills/Competencies:
Must be proficient in both written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Minitab

Other Skills:
Predominately North America based, however travel to Europe and Asia maybe required. Note that this position will have up to a 25-30% travel requirement.
