About the role

Zillow is looking for an exceptional Principal Technical Product Manager to join a growing team with a broad mission - build the data science and machine learning products that will power the next stage of our growth by focusing on creating a dramatically different and better experience for the seller, as well as the evolution of Zillow Instant Offers. You will work with Machine Learning and Data Science teams to tackle problems across a broad variety of domains and will:

  • Evaluate opportunities and plan research and engineering efforts to maximize impact for our consumers and on the business, through the application of machine learning and data science

  • Manage project plans, schedule commitments and ensure plans are integrated and aligned, working with product, operations, and marketing teams across Zillow to create the overall organizational and business strategy

  • Analyze, remove, and prevent roadblocks across teams to meet quality standards, project deadlines and business objectives

Selling a home can be a complicated and frustrating process. You will join a new team at Zillow tackling the analytic problems around creating a dramatically better experience for the seller and new ventures around the evolution of Instant Offers. At the center of Zillow’s effort to create the future of home selling, this team will be responsible for creating on innovative solutions to challenging problems, many entirely new for the company but all central to our mission to empower the consumer and transform the real estate industry by building a true marketplace.

Who you are

  • 5+  years of product management experience and a passion for building analytic products

  • Working knowledge of concepts form machine learning and data science - you don’t need to implement models from scratch, but you should be able to clearly explain concepts like precision and recall or cross validation to non-experts.

  • Familiarity with programming languages, especially for data analysis (Python, R, Scala, etc.)

  • Experience with open source technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Presto a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred)

  • Highly Analytical. You use data to make decisions and are comfortable gathering it yourself or working with others to gather it.

  • Results Oriented. You can cut to the core of a problem, identify what needs to be done and when, and work with the teams to get solutions shipped.
