Northrop Grumman is seeking a qualified and motivated professional for the role of Procurement Specialist with experiences in supply chain management and/or related fields (including business and financial planning, contracts administration, project management, logistics, and manufacturing).

This position is located in either Irving, TX or Baltimore, MD area with a hybrid remote schedule.

The person in this position will provide procurement support for a wide variety of projects. This is a key position that will help ensure all contractual provisions related to our indirect projects are followed, monitored, and closed. This person will play a key role in managing all aspects of supply chain engagement to ensure that all work is completed on time and within budget. Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a timely manner, display strong interpersonal skills, and have an agile perspective of compliance protocol mandated by Aerospace and Defense regulations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sourcing and procuring goods and services of a commodity nature from many suppliers.
  • Leading competitive and non-competitive sourcing in request for quotations.
  • Evaluating supplier proposals and placing compliant purchase orders.
  • Extracting, monitoring, analyzing, and validating information from multiple sources.
  • Developing engaging and collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal partners/customers to drive problem resolution.
  • In conjunction with quality organization, evaluating and monitoring supplier quality and reliability, as well as supplier ability to support required delivery schedules.
  • Working with internal customers to ensure specifications are appropriate for the services or products required.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manage risk through targeted negotiations.
  • Managing performance of purchase orders, ensures compliance with all public law requirements as well as company (and business) policies and procedures including import/export regulations.
  • Employing sound business practices and assessing supplier performance as part of follow-up activities.
  • Ensuring that appropriate documentation is provided to logistics/transportation & warehouse organization so that proper receipt is recorded.
  • Reviewing and approving supplier payment as needed and working diligently to clear invoice issues.
  • Utilizing tools such as Lean Six Sigma with suppliers to drive quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Interpreting contract provisions to help resolve claims and questions submitted by subcontractors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 years of relevant experience OR Masters Degree and 4 years of relevant experience OR Associates Degree and 8 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience in supply chain management, business and financial planning, contracts administration, project management, logistics, manufacturing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and innovative behaviors in past projects, roles or experiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a challenging environment.
  • Professional experience in a regulated industry; to include Aerospace & Defense, Insurance, Financial Services, Telecommunications.
  • SAP experience.
  • Institute for Supply Management (CPSM) Certification.
  • U.S. Government procurement, contracts, subcontracts, supply chain and/or business management.
  • Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)/ Defense Federal Acquisition (DFAR).
  • Knowledge of SAP, MS Office Suite, MS Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

This position reports to Irving, TX, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 3 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $71,400 USD - $107,000 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
