Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for a Principal/Sr. Principal Environmental Air Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
In this role you will:
- Perform air quality program permitting and compliance activities
- Support environmental problem-solving and routine program tasks in chemical and hazardous waste management, wastewater compliance, safety compliance and environmental sustainability.
- Monitors pollution prevention activities, compliance and auditing efforts.
- Reviews and analyzes environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA, state and local regulatory agencies.
- Determines impact on company operations and publishes compliance strategies and requirements.
- Evaluates proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public and environmental impact.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Enviornmental Engineer (Air Quality):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related science discipline with five (5) years of relevant/related experience
- OR a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related science discipline with three (3) years of relevant/related experience
- Experience and/or basic understanding of South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) rules, as well as environmental regulations.
- Ability to read, understand, and complete documentation as it relates to required permits for SCAQMD
- Ability to obtain and retain a DoD Government Clearance at the SCI level.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Enviornmental Engineer (Air Quality):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related science discipline with nine (9) years of relevant/related experience
- OR a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related science discipline with seven (7) years of relevant/related experience
- Experience and/or basic understanding of South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) rules, as well as environmental regulations.
- Ability to read, understand, and complete documentation as it relates to required permits for SCAQMD
- Ability to obtain and retain a DoD Government Clearance at the SCI level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience completing and submitting permit documentation to SCAQMD
- Active (in-scope) DoD Clearance
- Experience with or desire to work on a multi-disciplined Environmental, Health and Safety team
- Experience and confidence utilizing Microsoft tools and database
- 2 or more years of experience working with SCAQMD rules
- Knowledge of Cal/OSHA requirements or a willingness to learn or apply them
- Experience in applying environmental requirements to solve problems.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, self-starter.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of stakeholders both written and oral
