This is your opportunity to join the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software Team in Woburn, Massachusetts as a Section Leader. The MDS Department mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control Software for our customer's wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. The job location for this opportunity is onsite in Woburn, Massachusetts.

What You Will Do

The MDS Department Section Leader will have a technical role on a program and will provide guidance and leadership to a section of 15 to 20 Engineers. The candidate will act as a key leader and mentor in the department, employing leadership, presence and influence skills while fostering teamwork and interdependent execution.

  • Responsible for the sustainment, assessment and development of the section.

  • Ensure section members adhere to policy, vision, values and goals.

  • Communicate flow-down to section members.

  • Performance development which includes collecting and providing performance feedback to section members.

  • Support section members yearly performance goal development.

  • Support section salary and labor planning.

  • Career and job assignment mentoring.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience in software development, integration or test using C, C++, Java, or Ada.

  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably using the Agile Scrum or Kanban framework.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience as a technical leader or team lead on software development, integration or test activities on a defense software development program.

  • Strong communication and mentoring skills, both technically and professionally.

  • Ability to effectively interact with subordinates, customers, and other internal organizations.

  • High energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and continuous improvement.

  • Radar domain knowledge (EWR, AN/TPY-2, XBR, CK, DBR, AMDR, etc.).

  • Software Cost estimation experience.

  • Six Sigma, CORE, EVMS, Software Project Management Certification and PMX certifications.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the companys performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
