We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Bluestem Brands to be located at our office in Eden Prairie, MN.

The Principal Software Engineer is a fundamental member of our growing IT team. The Principal Software Engineer will lead development initiatives and platform standards, as well as build Java-based, micro-service driven applications to meet Bluestem Brands specific business needs. All IT team members have a unique voice in how to deliver technology that creates value, fuels growth and builds a competitive advantage!

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with both technical and business team members to understand requirements and develop solutions based on Bluestem Brands standards using an agile development process
  • Mentor and support development staff reports to maximize their growth potential and benefit to both Bluestem and their careers
  • Work closely with eCommerce Architecture to review and enrich technology stack
  • Enhance automation and testing strategies for the Client Services eCommerce platform
  • Participate in code improvement activities to enhance the enterprise code base
  • Create technical and system documentation
  • Supplement product development teams based on story need and direction
  • Lead, drive and implement a modern, service-oriented architecture
  • Present vision to both technical and business groups
  • Outline coding standards, implement code review procedures and enforce unit test coverage of code base
  • Manage the onboarding process for technical team resources
  • Hands-on development
  • Find balance of feature delivery with scalable, extensible, performant quality code

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Experience mentoring technical team members, developing and monitoring progress on objectives that align with the goals of the company
  • Consultation and leadership experience on complex projects
  • Exceptional skills with the following tools and technologies: Java, IntelliJ, ReactJS, NGINX, Jenkins, REST, and Groovy
  • Good organizational abilities
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong passion and interest for web technologies
  • Function independently and work well within a team
