Established in 1946, the American Institutes for Research (AIR) is one of the world's largest behavioral and social science research and evaluation organizations. Our mission is to generate and use rigorous evidence that contributes to a better, more equitable world. AIR works with federal, state, and local government agencies, philanthropies and other organizations to conduct research and evaluation and provide technical assistance in the areas of education, health and workforce development, in the U.S. and abroad.
AIR is currently seeking a Principal Researcher with expertise in postsecondary education. Principal Researchers provide leadership, mentorship, and technical advice in support of AIR research and evaluation projects to ensure research integrity, appropriate design and application of research methodologies and analysis techniques, development of accurate conclusions, clear reporting, applicability to problems of practice, and client satisfaction. Important aspects of the role include the leadership and development of research grant and evaluation proposals, directing research projects, contributing to the strategic direction of AIR’s postsecondary education research practice, and mentoring and developing AIR research staff.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of conducting experimental and quasi-experimental studies and/or quantitative research methods. Experience and expertise in issues related to career and technical education (CTE) and/or workforce policy and development is also desired, but not required. Other qualifications include:
